While actor Ryan Reynolds has already shown off pictures of Josh Brolin as Deadpool 2's time-traveling mutant, new photos from the Vancouver set tease an alternate look for the man known as Cable.
Published by Just Jared, the set photos show the actor in a previously unseen suit, one that differs substantially from those Brolin and his stunt double wore on set in August. It's unknown at this time how the new look might factor into the movie; indeed, the actor may be wearing some sort of virtual effects suit that will later be digitally altered. The photos themselves show Cable moving a cart full of different weapons and supplies, which he later loads into the back of a truck. At one point, he puts his hands-up, though whether that's plot related or not remains to be seen.
Cable debuted in 1986 as Nathan Summers, the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, a clone of the psychic Jean Grey, in Uncanny X-Men #201. The character first appeared as an adult operating under the moniker of Cable in 1990 in New Mutants #87. He's known best as the leader of X-Force, which has also counted Domino and Deadpool among its members. Cable tends to play the straight man when teaming up with the comedic Deadpool. The introduction of Cable and Domino in Deadpool 2 will help to pave the way for Fox's planned X-Force film franchise.
Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 sees the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, Julian Dennison in an unknown role and Jack Kesy as a villain widely thought to be Black Tom Cassidy. The film opens June 1, 2018.
