Convenience store chain 7-Eleven has launched a new Deadpool 2 merchandising tie-in that will see stores nationwide stocked with foods and products themed after the Merc with a Mouth. 7-Eleven will also host a promotional sweepstakes and an in-store augmented reality experience.

"Deadpool fans can come to our stores and find fun collectibles and different augmented reality experiences unlocked each week through our app," Sean Thompson, 7-Eleven senior vice president, said in a press release. "We hope people will play along with us – virtually and in real life – and share their experiences with friends and family on social media."

Deadpool 2-branded items include Slurpee cups and straws, bottled energy drinks, Mike's Harder Watermelon Lemonade and Trolli Sour Brite Tiny Hands, all of which can be found at participating stores. Of course, the promotion would not be complete without the addition of chimichangas, which will be available in two sizes -- mini chimichangas at the hot food case and larger, packaged Deadpool 2-branded chimichangas in the cold foods section.

"To make this even more exciting, 7-Eleven is launching an Augmented Reality (AR) gaming experience, first of its kind in retail, with Deadpool," Gurmeet Singh, Chief Digital and Chief Information Officer, said. "Fans can interact with Deadpool and have fun experiences in the 7-Eleven app, unlocking different experiences each week exclusively in the stores nationwide and in Canada."

Customers who want to engage with the 7-Eleven Deadpool 2 AR experience will need to download the 7-Eleven app and tap the on-screen camera icon in the app. Customers can then take a selfie with Deadpool or seek out scannable codes in stores. Once scanned, the codes could reveal a number of things, such as virtual activities or 7Rewards bonus points. Scannable activities will change weekly.

By using the 7-Eleven app at checkout, customers are also automatically entered to win prizes like movie tickets or a trip to Las Vegas, among others. Customers looking to share their experiences on social media can use the hashtag #DPx7E to discuss all things Deadpool 2 and 7-Eleven.
