Pre-release copies of Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, the latest sourcebook for Dungeon & Dragons, are out in the wild and fans are sharing the contents online. While Wizards of the Coast previously confirmed that the latest addition to the long-running tabletop role-playing game will focus on both new and old dragons, players now know specifically what to expect. Chapter One is dedicated to character creation, specifically one that's draconic, with new subclasses and feats. Chapter Two delves into dragon magic, introducing a collection of new items themed around the scaly beasts. Chapter Three focuses on how to effectively role-play as a draconic being while Chapter Four details "Lairs and Hoards," which will likely serve as key locations in many campaigns.Related: Dungeons & Dragons Should Revisit Spelljammer and Dark Sun in 2022

Chapter Five is simply titled Draconomicon and includes information on a variety of dragon types. Fans of D&D Fifth Edition will recognize a few entries, including the Red Dragons and Green Dragons. Long-time players will also note the return of Gem Dragons, a subspecies that has been missing from the current version of the game. Amethyst Dragons, Emerald Dragons and Crystal Dragons can all be seen in the chapter; many of these creatures were last seen in Dungeons & Dragons Third Edition. "For each kind of dragon, this chapter provides inspiration to help DMs craft dragon personalities and dragon-themed adventures, including sample lair maps," reads the sourcebook.

While the previously mentioned chapters all contain information that will excite both players and Dungeon Masters, Chapter 6: Bestiary is likely where nearly everyone will instantly skip to. This comprehensive list of monsters and enemies includes stat blocks for a wide variety of threatening creatures. As can be expected from Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, many of the encounters are themed around dragons, including Dragonbone Golem, Dragonflesh Grafters and Dragon Turtles.

Fizban's Treasury of Dragons was initially meant to launch on Oct. 19 but due to "goblin related issues" the book is expected to now release on Oct. 26. Those pesky creatures have clearly been tampering with Wizards of the Coast's production line as they've also delayed Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos from Nov. 16 to Dec. 7. While that might be annoying to some, Dungeons & Dragons' latest adventure The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is available now and treating parties to spooky expeditions into the mysterious Feywilds.
