10 Gajeel Redfox (Chaotic Neutral)

Gajeel and Panther Lily

Gajeel Redfox is the kind of free spirit that the Chaotic Neutral alignment is looking for. He used to be part of the rogue guild, Phantom Lord, before Natsu and his cohorts took the organization down. However, the events leading up to it were filled with Gajeel's wild rage that seemed near independent to the actions of Phantom Lord.

Once the rogue guild disbanded, he'd give that wild energy to Fairy Tail. He still acted pretty independently and continued to butt heads with Natsu, but he more than made up for his early ambush by spying on Raven Tail for Makarov. Having been on both sides but continuously walking to his own beat, Gajeel is Chaotic Neutral.

9 Wendy Marvell (Neutral Good)

Wendy Marvell talking happily in Fairy Tail.

As the healer of the group, it would make sense that Wendy Marvell's attentions are unbiased. If there's someone that's hurt or in trouble, she'll do her best to protect every person that she can.

During the Edolas Arc, she even comforts her companion, Carla, by saying, "It's not about whether or not you're a human or an Exceed. We're all living beings and we have to do what is right." Wendy is also typically a pacifist who reserves her fists for only the most crucial moments. Given that affection for everyone, Wendy is Neutral Good.

8 Juvia Lockser (Chaotic Neutral)

Much like Gajeel Redfox, Juvia Lockser was a powerful mage that was just following along the steps of the Phantom Lord Guild. Her listless nature even complimented her water magic which was characterized by the constant rainfall that followed her. She'd probably still be flooding streets if it wasn't for her fateful meeting with the love of her life, Gray Fullbuster.

Since then, she's dutifully been following him and growing to appreciate the other members of Fairy Tail. However, her main priority will always be Gray; and if he disappears, the clouds come back. Not caring for much else, Juvia is Chaotic Neutral.

7 Erza Scarlet (Lawful Neutral)

Erza Scarlet grew up in a violent and tumultuous environment that craved structure of some sort if not, at least, a hero. Erza decided to be both when she took up the sword and tried to lead a group of slaves out of the Tower of Heaven.

Because of this, Erza is a kind, dutiful person who's constantly looking to protect people and facilitate some order. She doesn't push her ideals onto other people but instead tries to frame what's fairy, making her bouts in the series more about honor than supremacy. As such, she's Lawful Neutral.

6 Gray Fullbuster (Chaotic Good)

Gray Fullbuster

Similar to Gajeel and, much to his reluctance, Juvia, Gray Fullbuster is a free spirit that's just hard to keep down. He's typically relaxed around the guildhall until Natsu gets on his nerves. At that point, the two get into a scrap but still somehow make sure not to hurt each other. Other than that, if he gets comfortable enough, Gray will also take off his clothes for a significantly more freeing feeling.

However, as cavalier as he may appear, Gray will always be one of the first responders if trouble were to appear. The most that he's been active is when he's the vanguard for the guild or that one time he infiltrated Avatar. A good guy that doesn't exactly wear the traditional uniform, Gray is Chaotic Good.

5 Lucy Heartfelia (Neutral Good)

Lucy Heartfelia, even more so than Wendy, is the bleeding heart of the Fairy Tail guild. She's constantly worrying about the good of all people, not just her self. In nearly every adventure, she's the one that's looking out for the good of everyone and will do her best to defend both her friends and, in some personal circumstances, her foes.

Her feelings even extend to her Celestial Spirits, beings that are taken as servants and guardians by some people but, in Lucy's hands, are made into friends. With a deep love for everyone, Lucy is Neutral Good.

4 Zeref Dragneel (Lawful Evil)

Zeref Fairy Tail

Zeref is a complicated case. He has caused wide, unprejudiced disorder across the world, but most of that was facilitated by the Curse of Contradiction. Since becoming punished by Ankhseram for trying to play with life, Zeref would accidentally kill anyone close to him that he lived, causing him to destroy forests and the communities around him.

As such, he had to turn his heart cold in an effort to protect everyone. Since then, he's tried to create beings that could one day kill him, whether it's his artificial demons or the hatred inspired in other wizards. Though his actions were pretty evil, his intentions were born from some personal good. As such, Zeref may be Lawful Evil.

3 Acnologia (Chaotic Evil)

Acnologia is the other primary antagonist of Fairy Tail that's much easier to read. He's a violent barbarian that, long ago, simply guild any dragon in sight, even those on his side. As the years passed by, he simply continued his path of destruction. To an extent, there is some complexity there, as his personas between a chaotic dragon and a stoic human shift dramatically.

As it was revealed later on, Acnologia has a similar want to Zeref. He simply wants a good opponent and only smiles when he's in a good fight. Given that bloodthirsty nature and rowdiness, Acnologia is Chaotic Evil.

2 Happy (Neutral Good)

Happy is Natsu Dragneel's faithful partner who doesn't want much more than to eat fish and help his buddies. He's not much of a fighter (not that he can help it) but will do his best to stay by his friends' sides and work even harder to carry them out of trouble.

Outside of battle, however, Happy is just a simple cat, albeit one with a few snarky comments. He'll laze about, eat his fill, and just latch himself to Natsu's back. Wanting as much as any cat would without giving their human friends too many scratches, Happy is Neutral Good.

1 Natsu Dragneel (Chaotic Good)

Natsu angry in Fairy Tail

Natsu Dragneel is the main protagonist of Fairy Tail who doesn't exactly fill the typical mold for a hero. Though he does everything with a cheerful smile, the boy can often be found picking fights, screaming, and throwing furniture around.

Even around his friends, he has a more than a cavalier attitude, such as how he constantly breaks into Lucy's apartment. Much like the other members of Fairy Tail, however, he does do anything he can to protect his friends, though he will handle every situation in a creative way. As a mage burning hotter than the fire that he breathes, Natsu is Chaotic Good.
