Zack Snyder fans are currently speculating that the director is planning a return to the DC Extended Universe by way of a Final Crisis movie.

Snyder set dedicated fans off by posting a brief clip of his family's Thanksgiving Day dinner to video-sharing site Vero. The post in question features a cooked turkey sitting on a carving board, clearly ready to be eaten. Yet in the background, it's easy to make out a blurred copy of Absolute Final Crisis, positioned under what appear to be two notebooks. Snyder simply wrote, "Thankful" as the caption for the video. Fans who have come to expect cryptic hints and teasers from the director were quick on the draw, with many believing the video to be confirmation that Synder is working on a Final Crisis film.

The recent video has thrown further fuel onto the fire as Snyder recently shared another mysterious post of a Justice League clapperboard. The number 279 is written on the prop while an old-fashioned image of what fans think is Wonder Woman amidst a team of commandoes is seen in the background. Many of Snyder's followers believe he is teasing another project in the SnyderVerse, the fan-given title to the connected DCEU films he has directed.

While many fans are no doubt excited at the prospect of Snyder directing Final Crisis, it's certainly worth pointing out that this pure speculation. At the time of writing, neither DC Comics nor Warner Bros has mentioned the project, let alone confirmed its existence. Given the success of Zack Snyder's Justice League, it's possible that a new film is in the early stages of development but a healthy pinch of salt should be used when considering these rumors.

Final Crisis is an epic DC Comics storyline that features many parallels with story beats set up in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Written by Grant Morrison, the massive crossover features an all-out invasion of Earth as Darkseid attempts to conquer all of reality by using the Anti-Life Equation. In doing so, the all-powerful villain is able to seemingly kill Batman, eventually succeeding in his cosmic conquest. Dick Grayson steps in to fill the role left behind by Batman who is discovered to have actually been thrown backward in time.

Absolute Final Crisis is the complete story, collecting every individual narrative and crossover into one book. The omnibus is largely considered to be the easiest and most accessible way to read the complicated event.
