The future of the DC Extended Universe, or DCEU, is a little unknown at the moment. However, there are rumors circling that the upcoming Flash movie might undo the DCEU, most likely through some type of "Flashpoint" event caused by Barry Allen. Judging by the confirmed and rumored cast, a retcon seems highly likely.

Whether the DCEU remains as it is or transforms into something else entirely, it will still exist in the real world, even if it loses its "canon" status. Newer versions of the heroes and villains presented in the DCEU may appear in future DC films, but will they be as powerful as their DCEU counterparts? The characters seen in Man of Steel through Zack Snyder's Justice League are extremely powerful when compared to their counterparts in other media – maybe even too powerful.

10 Mera's Control of All Liquids

Amber Heard as Mera in Zack Snyder's Justice League

Mera is Atlantean royalty and perhaps the strongest member of its military. She possesses the enhanced strength and speed of most other Atlanteans, along with an enhanced healing ability. Her most famous power is hydrokinesis, which is the ability to manipulate water. She uses this on more than one occasion to create bursts of water or even large waves.

She can even harden water to make temporary solid weapons. In Zack Snyder's Justice League, when defending the Atlantean Mother Box from Steppenwolf, she manipulates the water in Steppenwolf's blood and draws it out of his body. It's a gruesome talent that shows just how brutal Mera can be in a fight.

9 El Diablo's Burst Of Power

El Diablo creates flames in Suicide Squad

El Diablo is easily the strongest member of the Suicide Squad. Deadshot may be an expert marksman, Katana may have a sword that traps the souls of its victims, Harley Quinn may be proficient with a baseball bat, but El Diablo can summon massive flames and create explosions at will. The Squad wouldn't have stood a chance against Incubus – the hulking brother of Enchantress – had El Diablo not been there.

Speaking of, along with pyrokinesis, El Diablo can transform himself into a demonic, skeleton, fire monster. In this form, he matches the strength and durability of Incubus, and his flames burn hotter than ever. As this monster, El Diablo kills Incubus with a finishing move reminiscent of something out of a Michael Bay Transformers movie.

8 The Many Magical Abilities Of Enchantress

Enchantress from Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad's Enchantress is referred to as "a witch." With this title comes all the powers and abilities viewers might expect a witch to have: possession, transformation, hypnosis, telepathy, teleportation, telekinesis, electrokinesis, and much more. Her powers are magic-based, meaning they're extensive and often unexplainable.

Enchantress probably possesses the most varied power set of any other character in the DCEU, making her one of the most deadly villains. Amanda Waller should have called Batman or Wonder Woman for backup because the fact that the Suicide Squad defeated her is a miracle.

7 Shazam And The Powers Of The Gods

Shazam Family in Fury of the Gods

After uttering the word "Shazam!," Billy Batson is transformed into his best self, possessing all the powers of the wizard who deemed him worthy. As Shazam, Billy has the powers of flight, super strength, speed (that rivals Superman's in the comics), electrokinesis, and more. His powers are based on the powers and abilities of famous gods like Zeus, Atlas, and Hercules.

Fans are eager to see Shazam share the screen with other DCEU heroes. Not counting end credit cameos, Shazam's powers have yet to be tested against the powers of other heroes. He's strong and fast, but is he as strong and fast as Superman or the Flash? When Shazam's sequel film Fury of the Gods releases, fans are hoping to get more insight into the limits of his many powers.

6 The Nearly Unstoppable Doomsday

DCEU Doomsday in Batman v Superman

Created for the sole purpose of killing Superman, Doomsday is a hybrid monster born from the DNA of both General Zod and Lex Luthor. Although its genetic makeup is both Kryptonian and human, Doomsday might still surpass Superman's power level. Having virtually all of Superman's powers, Doomsday is pretty much unstoppable.

Not only does it hold its own against Superman and Wonder Woman, it survives a nuclear explosion and a fall from the atmosphere. The only weapon that can kill it is kryptonite. Thankfully, Batman has some of that handy. If it wasn't for the kryptonite, Doomsday would have continuously gotten stronger from all the damage it took, reaching unknown heights of power and destruction.

5 Zod & The Invading Kryptonians

Zod and the Kryptonians invade Earth

Superman is one of the strongest characters in the DCEU, if not the strongest. Any other Kryptonian who sets foot on Earth would be gifted with the same incredible powers "under its yellow sun." Man of Steel showcases epic battles between Kryptonians fighting at full power.

The scariest thing about General Zod and his invading Kryptonian legion is their ability to adapt to Earth's atmosphere so quickly. Aside from the odd headache and ringing in his ears, Zod manages to reach the full height of Kryptonian power in about a day. Clark slowly learned his powers over the course of his entire life on Earth, and only mastered flight maybe a week earlier than Zod.

4 Cyborg, Powered By Mother Box Technology

Cyborg (Ray Fisher) from Zack Snyder's Justice League

In a world basically run and operated by technology, having the powers of technopathy and technology manipulation can make someone the strongest person on the planet – as it did for Victor Stone. After being injured in a car crash, Victor Stone's father, Silas, fuses an Apokoliptan Mother Box to his son, crafting a metallic body made of alien technology.

As Cyborg, Victor can fly, shoot bursts of plasma energy from his arms, repair himself, and hack into other pieces of technology, including other Mother Boxes. Cyborg's extensive access to technology is best presented in Zack Snyder's Justice League when he seamlessly hacks into bank funds to gift money to a civilian.

3 Ares, Who Defeated Nearly All Other Gods

Any one of the Greek Gods is powerful on their own; however, Ares is the one who defeated and killed nearly all of them. As he states in Wonder Woman, Ares instigated the "War of Gods" and killed his brothers and sisters. Zeus was forced to muster almost all his remaining energy to defeat him.

Since Zeus's death and Themyscira's birth, Ares spent his days slowly infecting the minds of humanity, instigating wars using simple nudges here and there. War gave Ares strength, and the more humanity fought itself, the stronger he became. Ares's only weakness was another god.

2 Superman Is Feared By Apokolips' Forces

Superman using his heat vision in Zack Snyder's Justice League

The forces of Darkseid and Apokolips waited until Earth was at its weakest to launch their assault. The Gods were all but extinct and Superman was dead. Therefore, it wasn't a surprise that when Superman was resurrected by the Justice League, he turned the tide of battle in their favor. ("Turning the tide" is an understatement).

When Superman returns in both versions of the Justice League film, he's a force to be reckoned with. Steppenwolf – the villain of the movie and an opponent that Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg couldn't defeat – is easily beaten by Superman. Darkseid was right to be fearful.

1 Zack Snyder's Justice League's Flash

Barry Allen Dressed As The Flash In The Snyder Cut Justice League

When the Flash moves, everything else stands still. At least that's what it looks like to Barry Allen when he taps into the Speed Force. Over the course of the DCEU, fans have gotten a better look at the Flash's powers and his limitations. In Batman V Superman, the Flash travels back in time (a difficult feat even for a speedster) to warn Batman of an apocalyptic future.

Fast forward to Zack Snyder's Justice League and the Flash must travel "far beyond the speed of light" to reverse time and save the world from exploding Mother Boxes. While time travel isn't without consequences, being able to manipulate time itself is an incredible power that can be a nightmare for writers.
