Jesse Eisenberg has now indicated he's happy to return as classic comic book villain Lex Luthor in future DCEU films.

This year's SXSW saw the actor and playwright add the role of producer to his credits. Eisenberg produced the documentary "The World Before Your Feet," which traces the steps of Matt Green, a man who walked on every street in New York for six years for a total of 8,000 miles.

Eisenberg spoke to Variety about how he got involved in the project and whether he would be reprising his role as Lex Luthor in the DCEU.

"I hope so. I mean, I have no idea is the truth. I love playing the character. Probably in terms of movie acting, it’s the most enjoyable character I’ve had the opportunity to play," Eisenberg said. "So I would love to do it again. But I don’t know what their slate is. If you have any pull, please use it." Eisenberg went on to add that although people thought some of his scenes might have been cut, his appearance was always intended to be a minor one and filmmakers actually added scenes instead.

Lex Luthor was last seen in Justice League's post-credits sequence in which he escaped from Arkham Asylum, thus setting the character up to possibly appear in future films. Eisenberg's portrayal of Lex Luthor remains controversial among fans, but the actor may follow in the footsteps of other notable DCEU villains and win them over given time - or he may remain a divisive presence.
