Tom Taylor and Trevor Hairsine's DC zombie saga reaches its grand finale with DCeased: War of the Undead Gods, a new monthly limited series set to launch later this year.

The first issue of War of the Undead Gods is set to hit comic shops on Tuesday, Aug. 9. The series will run for a total of eight issues, which would put its conclusion at around March 2023. "From the original DCeased, to DCeased: Dead Planet, DCeased: Unkillables, to DCeased: Hope at World's End, acclaimed writer Tom Taylor and artist Trevor Hairsine turned the DCU upside down, combining horror, heroism, and hope in the face of Armageddon," DC said. "Taylor and Hairsine reunite for the last chapter in this fan-favorite franchise, DCeased: War of the Undead Gods."

What began as a battle for Earth has become a war for the galaxy! The emergence of a reborn, undead Darkseid in DCeased: Dead Planet sets the stage for the most devastating conflict yet for Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman! As the Anti-Life Equation spreads into the cosmos, the survivors of Earth prepare for the coming apocalypse and realize their only hope could lie in the most powerful surviving hero from the first DCeased series.

War of the Undead Gods features main cover art by Hairsine, with issue #1 also featuring an homage variant cover by Dan Mora, an acetate variant by Kael Ngu, a 1:25 horror variant by Francesco Mattina, a 1:50 variant by Sun Khamunaki and a 1:100 virgin variant by Mora. Mora's homage variants for issues #1-4 connect to form a larger image paying tribute to Jim Lee's iconic cover art for Marvel Comics' X-Men #1 (1991), with Batman, Superman and Darkseid falling into the roles of Wolverine, Cyclops and Magneto, respectively.

Created by Taylor, the DCeased saga takes place in an alternate version of the DC Universe where a corrupted version of the Anti-Life Equation has resulted in a widespread zombie outbreak, with numerous iconic characters being infected. The original DCeased was a six-part limited series written by Taylor and penciled by Hairsine that launched in May 2019.

In July 2020, DCeased received a sequel in the form of the seven-part limited series DCeased: Dead Planet, again written by Taylor and penciled by Hairsine. The DC zombie saga also has a number of spinoffs, including the 2019 one-shot DCeased: A Good Day to Die, the 2020 three-part limited series DCeased: Unkillables and the 2020 15-part digital-first anthology series DCeased: Hope at World's End. War of the Undead Gods was first teased in February 2022, when Taylor announced a third, main DCeased series -- which would implicitly be the saga's last.

Written by Tom Taylor and illustrated by Trevor Hairsine, DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #1 goes on sale Aug. 9 from DC.
