WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for DCeased #1-3, by Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, Stefano Gaudiano, Rain Beredo and Saida Temofonte, on sale now.

For three issues now, Taylor, Trevor Hairsine and Stefano Gaudiano's DCeased has been wreaking havoc across DC's newest alternate reality. The techno-organic Anti-Life virus has been spreading rapidly throughout the planet, taking down countless humans including some of Earth's biggest heroes and villains along the way.

It began by claiming the life of patient zero, Cyborg, along with the one who instigated everything, Darkseid. From there, the virus quickly spread, taking down Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Nightwing, Aquaman and Robin (Tim Drake). The series' most recent issue revealed the fate of Batman and the Birds of Prey, leaving Gotham City devastated and in more danger than it's ever been.

DCeased #3 also revealed the final fate of the Joker, with Harley Quinn taking Mistah J out, once and for all. But it's tough to keep a good villain down, so it should be little surprise that the Clown Prince of Crime would be the subject of an upcoming variant cover, even if his role in the story is over.

Artist Arthur Suydam, of Marvel Zombies fame, pays homage to Brian Bolland’s classic Batman: The Killing Joke cover, recreating the iconic image with an undead twist. As in the original cover, we see a close-up of the Joker, grinning menacingly and holding a camera to his face. Here, however, his his visage is skeletal, blood dripping from his hairline and mouth, as well as the camera's lens.

Suydam's variant is available exclusively from Comic Hero University, and will be released on August 14, the same day the series' next issue arrives in comic book stores.
