WARNING: The following contains spoilers for DCeased: Dead Planet #4 by Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine, Gigi Baldassini, Rain Beredo, and Saida Temonfonte

The heroes of DCeased -- or at least the ones that remain -- have been forced to push themselves and their abilities to their limits to help stop the spread of the Anti-Life Virus. However, it looks like one hero is so powerful that he may dwarf anything the universe throws at him.

In DCeased: Dead Planet #4, Jon Kent just proved how mighty he really is by taking down Orion of the New Gods with a single punch.

DCeased Superman Orion

As the son of Superman, Jon Kent's strength was never going to be ignorable. He's been exhibiting awesome strength since his childhood, and his powers have only grown as he's gotten older. In the core DC Universe, he's brought that strength to the future, where he's currently serving alongside the Legion of Super-Heroes. But in the DCeased universe, the loss of so many lives and heroes, in particular, have forced younger figures like Jon into conflict. Jon was forced to step up when his father became one of the infected, even stalling him long enough for the Green Lantern Corps to arrive on the scene and help save the day. Ever since then, Jon has been serving as Superman in his father's stead, alongside other heroes like Damian Wayne's Batman, Cassie Sandmark's Wonder Woman and Wallace West's Flash.

Because of his status as a half-Kryptonian, it wouldn't be wrong to initially assume he would only eventually reach half of his father's potential. But DCeased: Dead Planet #4 might actually prove the contrary to be true. Damian has been theorizing that Superboy will become stronger than his father ever was down the line, specifically because of his half-Kryptonian genetics, and that theory gets some very tangible proof when the group goes to New Genesis. Seeing Orion beating his brother, Mister Miracle, to the ground, Superboy steps in and easily lays out Orion with a single punch. It's a huge hit from Superboy, especially considering how powerful Orion is on his own.

DCeased Superman Stay Down

As the heroic son of Darkseid, Orion is one of the most physically impressive New Gods. He's stood along with the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman and traded blows with forces as strong as Darkseid himself. Orion is one of the few DC characters who can rarely be knocked down at all, let alone actually beaten, and Jon Kent was able to do that with one punch. It's a powerful statement to the New Gods about how powerful this next generation of heroes could be. This feat also suggests that Jon Kent could likely take over entire planets just on his own. He could even be the only being capable of countering his father, who is now a Blighted-One absorbing the entirety of Earth's sun into his being.

If that kind of power boost carries over to the core DC Universe, then Superboy could be quietly getting set up to outpace his father in terms of sheer power. Working with the Legion of Super-Heroes is giving him plenty of experience as a hero that his father lacked as a young man in most modern continuities, and there have been suggestions that Jon Kent will eventually replace his father one day as Superman and eclipse his legacy.

With this show of power, DCeased might have just given readers a good example of what Jon Kent is really capable of, and it could prove how powerful the next generation of DC heroes is. If even the New Gods' most vicious warrior can't stand up to a single hit from Superman, there's no telling what this young hero can do.
