WARNING: The following contains spoilers for DCeased: Hope at World's End #8, by Tom Taylor, Karl Mostert, Trevor Scott, Rex Lokus and Saida Temofonte, on sale now.

In the DC Universe, Detective Chimp has often touted that no matter how much Batman gets the credit for being the greatest detective in history, he's really the best detective in the DC Universe He respects Batman, but he believes in himself even more, as we've seen in the recent Justice League Dark stories.

And come DCeased: Hope at World's End #8, Bobo lives up to his word as he actually reveals that he knows precisely how to destroy all humanity. The shocking thing is it's way simpler than anything the Batman could have come up with if he broke bad.

When Batman breaks bad, his plans usually revolve around impossibly complex schemes to systematically take out his opponents. The Dark Knight wades into the problem on a granular level and determines the best course of action, using clues and evidence provided, but Bobo is all about simplicity and the minuscule things we often overlook.

As he traverses the Earth with the Blighted Ones overrunning it, Detective Chimp rescues a young girl, Amy, and works with Ace the Bat-Hound to get her to Poison Ivy's garden. Bobo is immune, since the Anti-Life virus only infects people, as he says its progenitors were too arrogant, thinking animals weren't important enough to wipe out. They don't consider animals to be sentient but Bobo proves otherwise by speaking to them as if he's Dr. Doolittle. It's then and there, he tells Amy if the villains were smart, however, they'd just put the virus in mosquitoes.

As Bobo alludes to, it's brilliant because people wouldn't suspect that the bites from the pests are anything but normal. it's just accepted we get bit by them. The most we might do is call vector control but in the DCU, if mosquitoes were spreading this disease, people would be quicker to look to villains like the Joker or Lex Luthor. Bobo's point is that mosquitoes are taken for granted as they can cover so much ground and exist almost anywhere. They don't need specific conditions, so they can transmit a virus in places as diverse as murky lagoons, cold office spaces, dark alleys or superhero secret hideouts.

While Bob is making a cheeky statement here, it's also an indictment on why animals should be taken seriously, especially mosquitoes. Still, Detective Chimp has seemingly given humanity's potential annihilation a disturbing amount of thought.
