Tom Taylor, Trevor Hairsine and Stefano Guadiano have put various DC heroes through the ringer in DCeased, and although the miniseries will end with its sixth issue, the cover for the penultimate installment shows the chaos won't be over anytime soon.
Taylor shared the cover for issue #5, which was done by artist Joshua Middleton, on Twitter. The image shows a bloodied Wonder Woman battling Superman, who appears to have succumb to the zombification sweeping the non-canon DC universe. She's wielding her iconic sword and shield, though it's unclear if it will be enough to take down the Man of Steel.
Middleton is best known for his work on Nyx, X-Men Unlimited and New Mutants. The artist was nominated for an Eisner Award for "Best Cover Artist"in 2004.
The events of DCeased have been instigated by Darkseid, whose Anti-Life Equation has resulted in a techno-organic virus spreading rapidly across Earth, taking down some of the publisher's biggest heroes and villains. The series, which is not in continuity with the rest of the comics, has seen Cyborg, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Nightwing, Aquaman, Robin (Tim Drake), Batman and the Birds of Prey number among its victims.
DCeased #4 hits shelves on August 7. Issue #5 will follow in September.
