Wonder Woman stands tall in DC's pantheon of heroes. She's not only one of the greatest heroines in comics but just one of the greatest characters in general, a paragon of virtue who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. While this has often hurt her relations with her fellow heroes at times, it's also made her the hero they look for to get things done when no one else can.

Wonder Woman is a great hero with some breathtaking adventures under her belt but there are greater versions of her out in the Multiverse and one of the best is the Wonder Woman from the Earth One graphic novels. In the three volumes of her story, she came to Man's World and fought against the warlike nature of the patriarchal powers of the world, eventually succeeding in transforming the world into a Themyscira like paradise.

While there were dissidents motivated by their misogyny to fight against her, most welcomed the perfect world Wonder Woman built and it remains a singular achievement for her.

One of Diana's first accomplishments is still one of her best. Diana always wanted to explore the world beyond Themyscira, so when she heard of her mother's contest to see who would leave the island as Wonder Woman, she wanted to prove how great she was. Her mother forbid her, so she joined the contest in secret.

Diana proved to be the best on the island, beating all comers in all of the contests. She earned the right to be called Wonder Woman, a massive achievement even for one as powerful as her. This put her on the path to becoming one of the Earth's greatest heroes.

Wonder Woman Justice Society

Many of the changes from the story Doomsday Clock didn't stick but so far, the ones to Wonder Woman seemed to. This altered history saw Wonder Woman come to Man's World in 1939 and warn Roosevelt of the coming war. She'd fight alongside the heroes who would eventually become the Justice Society and help found the team.

These changes revealed just how important Diana has been to the DC Universe since its inception. She helped establish the legacy of heroism that inspired so many others, becoming one of the world's greatest forces for good.

7 She's Beat Superman In A Fight

As powerful as Wonder Woman is, Superman is more powerful. While the two have always been friends, there are always times when two superheroes find themselves at odds and this happened to Wonder Woman and Superman on more than one occasion. She hasn't won every fight between the two but she has defeated Superman in the past, which is no easy feat.

Superman's power may overshadow Wonder Woman's but her skill more than makes up for it. While it wasn't easy for her, she's been able to outthink and outfight Superman, beating him even when it seemed impossible.

6 She Became The Goddess Of Truth For A Time

Wonder Woman as the Goddess Of Truth in DC Comics

Wonder Woman is a tough cookie but she doesn't always win. She's been killed more times than meets the eye and one of those times, she ascended to a position that was perfect for her. Wonder Woman joined the Greek pantheon and became the Goddess of Truth, using her great power to help the gods in their tasks.

Her mother Hippolyta took over for her as Wonder Woman and Diana stayed on Olympus for a time, becoming the embodiment of one of the things she fought hardest for over the years. While she was only a goddess for a short time, the fact that she became one at all is quite amazing, as it proved just how great of a champion for the truth she was.

5 She's Saved The World From Worst Of The Gods

Wonder Woman versus Ares in DC Comics

Gods like Ares and Hades are some of Wonder Woman's most overused villains but that doesn't change the challenge they've presented to her. Ares especially seems to want to do terrible things to the world of mortals and Wonder Woman has stopped his machinations so many times it's strange that he keeps trying.

He's not the only one either, as she's had to fight multiple other gods over the years as well. The fact that she's always been able to defeat them proves just how skilled she is, as their power is far greater than hers. Beating gods is just another day's work for Wonder Woman.

4 She Defeated The Batman Who Laughs

Wonder Woman Kills Batman Who Laughs

The Batman Who Laughs is one of the most savage villains in DC history and his record of losses is pretty light. In fact, it's safe to say that he never really lost, only had setbacks in his plan. Until Wonder Woman, that is. Wonder Woman kept the faith when everything was at worst, running his prison while planning to destroy him and the twisted world he and Perpetua had created in order to make something better.

When nearly everyone else had given up, Wonder Woman stood firm, gathering heroes and implementing a plan that would give her the power to take on an ascended to godhood Batman Who Laughs and defeated him, ending his threat in a definitive way.

As important as founding the Justice Society was, Wonder Woman's place in founding their descendants would be one of the most important moments in the history of the DC Universe. The Justice League is the greatest team of all time in the DC Multiverse and Wonder Woman is one of its most important members, ensuring their victories many times.

2 Her Role As Themysciran Ambassador Spread Hope And Happiness Throughout The World

While Wonder Woman relished her role as a hero, it's not as important as her ambassadorship. As ambassador to Themyscira, Wonder Woman has done things to help the world that she couldn't if she only fought evil, using the wealth of her home to help others. She's helped guide governments to change unjust laws and used her training as a head of state to smooth out wars and bring peace.

Being a warrior is important but Diana is first and foremost a woman who believes in peace. Being an ambassador has helped her ensure peace in ways that just being a superhero couldn't and it's a role she relishes.

1 She Rebuilt The Multiverse

Perpetua and the Batman Who Laughs did a number on the Multiverse, compressing it and destroying much of it, unleashing the power of Doom. Wonder Woman had been trying to figure out a way to remake the Multiverse the whole time and after defeating the Batman Who Laughs, she used the phenomenal power she had gained to rebuild it.

The DC Multiverse is a vast frontier of amazing worlds and what Wonder Woman created was truly infinite, a whole new cosmology for her and her friends to explore. It remains to be seen just how it unfolds but Wonder Woman did something remarkable with her recreation of it.
