DC Comics will release a Wonder Woman 1984, a two-story companion comic book with a cover by Nicola Scott.

In the first tale of Wonder Woman 1984 #1, the heroic goddess must save hostages after bunglers take control of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Written by Wonder Woman 1984 associate producer Anna Obropta and Superman's Louise Simonson, the first story includes art by Bret Blevins, who is well-known for his work on the New Mutants comic series.

Steve Pugh, who has worked as an artist for both Marvel and DC, penned the second story in Wonder Woman 1984 #1. "A reckless mastermind has made the ultimate power move by stealing Wonder Woman’s golden Lasso of Truth, and it’s up to Diana and Steve Trevor to get it back before the worst happens!" the description reads. Art on the second story was provided by DC Comics Bombshells' Marguerite Sauvage

The 32-page Wonder Woman 1984 #1 will hit comic book stores and digital retail outlets on Sept. 29, with an earlier release in some Walmarts on Sept. 20. An official price for the comic book wasn't shared with the announcement.

Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 2.
