John Constantine joins another superhero team in DC vs. Vampires.

Written by James Tynion IV and Matthew Rosenberg with art by Otto Schmidt and Daniele Di Nicuolo, a preview for DC vs. Vampires #8 shows Constantine and Robin Damian Wayne arriving at the House of Mystery with a vampire. Inside the mystical locale is Constantine's other team made up of Doctor Fate, the Spectre, Phantom Stranger and Felix Faust, all magic users working on a way to cure vampirism. However, the group appears to be making slow progress, being that they manage to explode a vampire test subject right in front of Constantine and Damian.

What Is John Constantine's Role in DC vs. Vampires?

Constantine is now orchestrating two teams to put an end to the vampire army controlling the Earth in the story outside of DC's main continuity. Tynion and Rosenberg's series has released one-shots and tie-ins to the main, limited 12-issue saga, with one miniseries titled DC vs. Vampires: All-Out War. The spinoff focuses on a separate team led by Constantine to assassinate a "key lieutenant" for the vampires, with the team's members including Deathstroke, Booster Gold, Mary Marvel and others. As of writing, the first issue of All-Out War is now available for purchase from DC.

In DC vs. Vampires, the vampire army is led by Dick Grayson, formerly the hero and Bat Family member Nightwing. Grayson's forces had been working in secret to change members of the metahuman population into vampires, so they could eventually rise up and take over the world. They eventually did so with heroes like Wonder Woman and Superman among their ranks. Now, the skies of the planet have been blackened to keep out sunlight while Grayson rules as the Vampire King.

What Chance Does Humanity Have Against DC's Vampires?

Aside from Constantine and Doctor Fate, other heroes and former villains leading the human resistance against the vampires include Batgirl Barbara Gordon, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Steel, Black Manta, Big Barda, the Atom and Supergirl. Though one of Constantine's teams is trying to find a vampire cure through magic, there are other methods to combat the threat available to them. Lex Luthor managed to make his blood deadly to vampires before he died himself, a secret that now lies within the veins of Harley Quinn after injecting the blood into her body. Meanwhile, All-Out War revealed that a Lazarus Pit can be used to reverse vampirism, as shown with Jean-Paul Valley aka Azrael.

DC vs. Vampires #8 is written by Tynion and Rosenberg with art by Schmidt and Di Nicuolo, colors by Schmidt and Pierluigi Casolino and letters by Tom Napolitano. Main cover art is by Guillem March, with variant covers by Nathan Szerdy and John Giang. The issue goes on sale Aug. 2 from DC Comics.
