One of the most popular comic characters of all time, Wolverine is the best there is at what he does... and what he does is sell comics. Oh, and kill bad guys. Wolverine has grown from a gruff loner to one of the linchpins of the Marvel Universe. While many comic characters are kept exactly the same because of editorial fiat, Wolverine evolves and changes.

Of course, a big factor in why people love him is his take no prisoners, fight all comers attitude. Wolverine doesn't give up and with his healing factor and adamantium skeleton, he can take a spectacular amount of damage. So, if Wolverine was in the DC Universe, which villains would he defeat? Which ones would take him out?

10 Would Lose To: Reverse Flash

The Reverse Flash is the most dangerous of the Flash's villains. Able to do just about everything the Scarlet Speedster can, he can also travel through time, meaning there's always a version of him alive somewhere in the timestream. Wolverine has Reverse Flash beat in a lot of ways, but his blinding speed would all he needs to defeat the Canadian X-Man.

Wolverine would never be able to land a hit on Reverse Flash. While hitting Wolverine would actually hurt Reverse Flash (since adamantium is harder than bone), Reverse Flash can run circles around Wolverine, literally, sucking him up into a massive tornado. Wolverine is tough, but being in a tornado would knock him out.

9 Would Defeat: The Joker

One of the most deadly criminals in Gotham City, a city known for its high percentage of deadly criminals, the Joker strikes fear into even the hardest of hearts. His insanity makes him unpredictable; he's just as liable to kill one of his henchmen as he is a hostage. Wolverine has faced worse than the Joker, though.

The Joker really doesn't have much that could hurt Wolverine. Bullets? Nope. Blades? Nope. Poison gas? Nope. Explosives? Nope. Wolverine would cut his way through whatever traps and henchmen the Joker threw at him and then do what Batman won't- kill the Clown Prince of Crime.

8 Would Lose To: Captain Cold

Another enemy of the Flash, Captain Cold built a gun that can freeze things to absolute zero. He decided to use it as part of a life of crime and fought against the Flash. He's the de facto leader of the Rogues, the informal group of the Flash's villains. It doesn't seem like Captain Cold should be able to beat Wolverine, but he would.

See, Wolverine has gotten so used to bulling his way at his enemies because of his unbreakable skeleton and healing factor, that he would rush in against Cold without thinking. Cold is used to fighting against the Fastest Man Alive, so this type of direct assault would spell disaster for Wolverine. Cold would freeze him and that would be that.

7 Would Defeat: Gorilla Grodd

Gorilla Grodd is one of the most savage villains in the DC Universe. Super strong and extremely intelligent, he's also a powerful telepath. When he's not trying to conquer Gorilla City, he's fighting against the Flash or hanging out with the Legion Of Doom. Grodd is a dangerous opponent, but Wolverine has faced worst over the years.

First, Wolverine is highly resistant to telepathy, so Grodd's mental powers wouldn't be very useful against him. Secondly, Wolverine is used to taking hits from the Hulk, who is definitely a lot stronger than Grodd. Third, Wolverine is used to fighting savage enemies. Grodd is nothing Wolverine hasn't faced before.

6 Would Lose To: Johnny Sorrow

Johnny Sorrow

Johnny Sorrow was once a silent film star who had to turn to a life of crime. Stealing a device that allowed him to phase through matter, the device was damaged in battle with the JSA and Sorrow was pulled into the Subtle Realms. Making a deal with the monstrous King of Tears, Sorrow was sent back to Earth with many powers including intangibility, mental powers, and a face that kills any who look upon it.

Sorrow would be able to phase though any of Wolverine's attacks. Then, all he'd have to do is take off his mask. That's an instant death that Wolverine's healing factor couldn't save him from.

5 Would Defeat: Solomon Grundy

The undead monster of Slaughter Swamp, Solomon Grundy has fought many heroes over the years- Batman, Superman, Green Arrow, the Justice League, and the Justice Society among others. Super strong, but not very bright, Grundy is a very dangerous enemy. However, he's basically a weaker version of the Hulk, which means that Wolverine can take him.

Wolverine has been fighting the Hulk for years and has some victories over him. Grundy would give him a good fight, but Wolverine is used to fighting a stronger enemy. Plus, Grundy just isn't as durable as Hulk, so Wolverine's claws would do a number on him.

4 Would Lose To: Doctor Polaris

DC Comics' Doctor Polaris controls metal

Much like his name implies, Doctor Polaris has magnetic powers. Using those powers to fight Green Lantern, he's a powerful criminal. Anyone that can fight Green Lantern is a tough customer. It should be pretty apparent why Wolverine would lose to Doctor Polaris.

While Polaris is not as powerful as Magneto, meaning he couldn't remove Wolverine's adamantium from his skeleton, he could throw Wolverine around and keep him from getting in any offense, while bombarding him with every piece of metal around. Eventually, Wolverine would go down.

3 Would Defeat: Bane

The man who broke the Bat, Bane is as smart as he is strong. Addicted to the strength enhancing drug Venom, Bane's physical might is the least of his weapons, as he's known for making elaborate plans to keep his enemies off balance, allowing him to take advantage of them when he strikes. Unfortunately for Bane, mind games just anger Wolverine.

Bane may be strong, but Wolverine has fought stronger. Plus, Wolverine has no qualms with cutting loose and really hurting someone. How well is Bane going to do when Wolverine cuts off one of his arms? With his healing factor and adamantium skeleton, there's very little that Bane could actually do against Wolverine.

2 Would Lose To: Ra's Al Ghul

The Demon's Head, Ra's Al Ghul has been amassing power and wealth for a very long time. Functionally immortal because of the Lazarus Pits, Al Ghul is an extremely skilled hand to hand combatant and a canny strategist. Head of the League of Assassins, he has some of the best killers in the world in his employ. Wolverine has faced many opponents over the years, but Ra's Al Ghul outclasses him.

While Wolverine is Al Ghul's superior in most ways, he's not more experienced than him and that will cost him. Wolverine has lost to more experienced yet weaker opponents before (like Lord Shingen Yashida) and a fight against Al Ghul would be no different. Now, that's not to say Wolverine would always lose to Ra's Al Ghul, but in their first encounter, Al Ghul would win.

1 Would Defeat: Deathstroke

Deathstroke, much like Wolverine, is a super soldier. Given super strength and reflexes and the ability to use ninety percent of his brain, Deathstroke is one of the greatest assassins in the DCU. Armed to the teeth, many a man has fallen to Deathstroke. Wolverine wouldn't be one of them, though.

Even if Deathstroke got the drop on Wolverine, he couldn't take him down. Sniping Wolverine from afar wouldn't do any good and at that point, Wolverine would start to hunt Slade down. Eventually, the two men would face off and as good as Deathstroke is, he wouldn't be able to do enough damage to Wolverine to take him down. Wolverine wouldn't have the same problem.
