The Sentry is one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel Universe. The man with the power of a million exploding suns was his own worst enemy, though, literally- his dark side manifested as the Void, a world ending threat on its own. In his time, he's been both hero and villain, both a paragon of virtue and a symbol for what a hero shouldn't be.
During his stints in the Avengers, he was the powerhouse of the team, the one who got called when they needed someone who could tackle the most powerful threats. So, let's say that the Sentry found himself in the DC Universe. Which villains would he be able to defeat? Which ones would defeat him?
10 Would Lose To: Mordru
A Lord Of Chaos, Mordru is a magic user of the highest order. He's a thorn in the side of heroes across millennia. Now, the Sentry could easily overpower him physically. There's no doubt about that. However, Mordru isn't a fool. He's not going to let that sort of thing happen.
This would be a very destructive battle as the Sentry threw himself at Mordru over and over again, trying to crack his magical defenses. Mordru would cut loose with his strongest spells and eventually be able to wear the Sentry down. Even if the Void did make an appearance, Mordru is more than powerful enough to take it out.
9 Would Defeat: Solomon Grundy
Solomon Grundy is an undead being of immense strength. He's been known to fight even the strongest superheroes to a standstill. However, all that strength would avail him little against the Sentry. Sure, being strong is great, but against the Sentry it's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
The Sentry is easily stronger than Grundy. Plus, he's faster, can fire energy blasts, and fly. Grundy couldn't hurt the Sentry, but but the Sentry could hurt him. While Grundy always regenerates and comes back, he'd not want to face the Sentry again.
8 Would Lose To: Doctor Psycho
If there's one thing the Sentry is very susceptible to, it's mental attack. Whether it be Mastermind or Cranio, they could always mess with the Golden Guardian of Good's head. The DC Universe doesn't have as many powerful psychics as the Marvel Universe, but one of the most ruthless and powerful is Doctor Psycho.
Psycho would be able to mess with the Sentry's head and probably even take control of him. His powers would work at range as well, meaning he'd never be in any danger from the Sentry's vast power.
7 Would Defeat: Kalibak
Kalibak is the brutish son of Darkseid. One of the strongest of his father's servants, Kalibak isn't known for his cunning, but he makes up for it with his strength and ferocity. However, he's lost a lot of fights to Superman and that means that his changes against the Sentry aren't very good either.
The Sentry has so many more powers than just his strength and that's why Kalibak wouldn't stand a chance against him. He could punch it out with Kalibak easily. He could fly around him, avoiding his blows and blasting him with energy. He could do so much that Kalibak doesn't have an answer for.
6 Would Lose To: Doomsday
Doomsday is the monster that killed Superman and that's a pretty big mark on any villain's resume. He's a perfect engine of destruction- immensely strong and durable, he can take whatever is thrown at him and strike back with just as much, if not more, force.
This would pretty much be a retread of Doomsday first battle against Superman. The Sentry just couldn't phase Doomsday. The Void would probably come out, but that wouldn't matter either. Doomsday would beat the Void as well. It might cost the beast his life, but the Sentry would die as well.
5 Would Defeat: Black Adam
Black Adam is a villain who thinks he's a hero. While it can be argued that he often does the right thing, he does it in such a way that it does immense damage and costs many lives. Calling him an anti-hero is a bit much; he walked the path for a time, but as the years have gone on, he's become more of a villain than ever.
Against Superman, his magical power gives Black Adam an advantage, but that won't help him against The Sentry. The Sentry has no weakness to magic, so the two of them would just duke it out. In the end, the Sentry would be able to do more damage to Black Adam and he would fall.
4 Would Lose To: Brainiac
While the Sentry is great for pointing at powerful enemies and taking them down, he's not so good against smart enemies. It's not that he's dumb, but he's just not used to thinking at the level of some villains. Take Brainiac, for example.
Brainiac would know to throw drones at the Sentry and analyze him as he fought them. He would use this analysis to come up with a plan if attack to use against the Sentry. Even if the Sentry could somehow power his way through whatever traps Brainiac made for him, Brainiac is strong enough to go toe to toe with Superman. He is just too much for the Sentry.
3 Would Defeat: Reverse Flash
Reverse Flash is a very dangerous opponent. The master of the Negative Speed Force, he can do nearly everything the Flash can do and somethings he can't, like travel through time unaided. There aren't many beings who can handle the kind of assault that Reverse Flash can dish out.
The Sentry could. While not as fast as Reverse Flash, he's still pretty fast and extremely durable. It's doubtful the Reverse Flash could hurt him very much and the Sentry would eventually get lucky and land a blow. One shot would be all it would take.
2 Would Lose To: Darkseid
Darkseid is the God Of Evil and the kind of threat that it take many heroes to face. It's not just because of his incalculable power, but also because he has an entire planet of soldiers and superpowered beings he can throw into the fray. Add to that the power of the Omega Effect and Darkseid is just too much for one hero.
The Sentry may get through Darkseid's legions. He's very powerful. However, if he came face to face with Darkseid, he just couldn't defeat him. Darkseid is more powerful than anything the Sentry has ever faced and even if the Void manifested, Darkseid would still win. As powerful as the Sentry is, he's a man. Darkseid is a God.
1 Would Defeat: Lex Luthor
While the Sentry doesn't do the best against intelligent villains, he would be able to defeat Lex Luthor. Sure, Luthor tangles with Superman all the time. He builds traps and tricks that are powerful enough to challenge the Man Of Steel. However, how many times have any of those actually worked?
The Sentry wouldn't try and outthink Luthor- he would just come barreling in. He would bust through all of Luthor's defenses and then it would just be him versus Luthor. Even Luthor in his armor couldn't stand up to the might of the Sentry.
