Captain America is one of the most inspirational superheroes of all time - not just in the Marvel Universe, but in all of comics as well. Despite the Super Soldier's lack of raw power, that hasn't stopped him from taking on foes much more powerful than he is. Among many examples, in both the comics and the movies he's gone one-on-one with none other than Thanos himself.

If Captain America ever found himself in the DC Universe, he'd be the first person to step up to any villain causing trouble, no matter how powerful they may be. Unfortunately, Cap's heart and fighting spirit can only take him so far. Here's a look at five DC villains Captain America could defeat as well as five he regrettably wouldn't stand a chance against.

10 COULD DEFEAT: The Beast

KGBeast AllStar

The former KGBeast is a deadly adversary that has given Batman a run for his money on several occasions. With cybernetics enhancing already dangerous abilities, the Beast is a force to be reckoned with on the metahuman level.

The Super Soldier Serum also puts Cap in the metahuman level, which makes him more than a match for the Beast. It would be a hard-fought battle, but one Captain America would come out of victorious.

9 NO CHANCE: Doomsday

Doomsday is the ultimate killing machine. He demolished the entire Justice League and killed Superman. If Captain America had the Avengers with him the outcome would be questionable. Alone, Captain America would be severely overpowered.

Despite the major disadvantage he would be at, if Captain America had to face Doomsday in order to allow civilians time to make it to safety, he would do so until his dying breath. Unfortunately, that dying breath would come quickly and painfully.

8 COULD DEFEAT: Captain Cold

Captain Cold is a dangerous villain that has held his own against the Fastest Man Alive, the Flash. Armed with his cold gun, the cold-hearted rogue is a dangerous adversary.

In the battle of captains, for Captain Cold to have any chance against Captain America, he'd need to be able to connect with his cold beam. One of the many abilities Captain America got from the Super Soldier Serum is enhanced agility, which would make landing a shot a near impossibility. Even if Cold did manage to hit Cap, he's been frozen before and came out fine, so if that's all Captain Cold's got Cap's just going to hit him with his shield and move on.

7 NO CHANCE: Reverse-Flash

Reverse Flash smiles and appears in Flashpoint

A Flash villain that Captain America wouldn't be able to beat is Eobard Thawne, AKA the Reverse-Flash. Already as fast as the Flash, the creator of the Negative Speed Force has the ability to both travel through and manipulate time, making him not only one of the Flash's most dangerous villains but the entire DC Universe's as well.

With many impressive abilities at his disposal, Reverse-Flash could beat Captain America any number of ways. He could pummel him a thousand times a second, vibrate right through him - and that's just for starters. He's shown the ability to alter anyone's age, or he could time travel back to Cap's birth and take him out as a baby.

6 COULD DEFEAT: Bane

Bane has been making Batman's life a living hell for decades now. Famously breaking Batman's back in the 90s, Bane took Batman's city in the recent City of Bane storyline. A dangerous fighter - even without the use of Venom - Bane is also a top-level strategist. How does Captain America stand a chance?

For starters, Cap is already 1-0 against Bane. The two faced off in the DC Versus Marvel Comics crossover from the 90s when Cap seemingly threw his shield away, only for it to take Bane out upon its return. Bane would be sure that strategy wouldn't work again, but Cap's undeterrable will would allow him to soldier through a very tough fight, fueled by the knowledge that he took out his foe before and would be able to again.

5 NO CHANCE: Black Adam

Black Adam was a highly skilled warrior long before he gained access to the powers of Shazam. His powers place him among the most powerful individuals in the DC Universe. That doesn't leave Captain America much of a chance.

Black Adam is a man of honor and would recognize that trait in Captain America. He would appreciate Captain America's never say die spirit and would show mercy in a fight with him. Make no mistake though, Black Adam would handily win.

4 COULD DEFEAT: Deathstroke

Slade Wilson, AKA Deathstroke, is one of the most dangerous mercenaries in any universe. Like Captain America, Deathstroke has enhanced physical abilities thanks to an experimental serum. Unlike Captain America, the serum also enhanced his mental capabilities as well, allowing Deathstroke to be able to utilize up to 90 percent of his brain capacity. The two are physically matched with the mental edge arguably favoring Deathstroke.

The two are so evenly matched either one could beat the other on any given day. In a best of seven series, the edge goes to Captain America based on intestinal fortitude and heart.

3 NO CHANCE: Anti-Monitor

Anti-Monitor from DC Comics.

Few villains have the power to take out the entire Multiverse. The Anti-Monitor is one of those few. Already vastly powerful left to his own devices, the Anti-Monitor also has the ability to absorb energy, at one point absorbing the energy of over one million worlds during Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Captain America knows what's at stake when he fights. If he had to face off against the Anti-Monitor he would know it's a fight he isn't coming back from. That wouldn't stop him though. Cap would fight to his dying breath desperately trying to crack the Anti-Monitor's armor in hopes it might make a difference down the road.

2 COULD DEFEAT: Ra's al Ghul

The leader of the League of Assassins, Ra's al Ghul is virtually immortal thanks to the powers of the Lazarus Pits. Living many lifetimes, Ra's has become well versed in numerous forms of combat and would pose a deadly threat to Captain America.

In Captain America, Ra's would see traits similar to those of Batman and may consider him a potential heir to his empire, whether Cap wants it or not. Because of this, he may hold back just slightly against Captain America. Anything less than 100% wouldn't be enough against Captain America and Cap would take advantage to come out victorious. Also, they'd fight shirtless because that's what people do when they fight Ra's al Ghul.

1 NO CHANCE: Trigon

Captain America takes on all threats, be they from Earth or out of this world. When the threats are of a demonic nature, Cap tends to be out of his element, and against Trigon, he would definitely be out of his element.

Trigon is one of the most powerful forces in the DC Universe. A being of pure evil, Trigon has numerous powers at his disposal and would be able to take out Captain America with any one of them without breaking a sweat.
