DC Universe's next original series, Stargirl, premieres on the premium streaming service later this year, with a new trailer revealing the teenage superhero learn about the legacy of the Justice Society of America and Starman.

The latest trailer shows high schooler Courtney Whitmore discovering the Cosmic Staff among her stepfather Pat Dugan's belongings, passed on to him by his mentor Starman before the JSA sacrificed themselves to save the world. As Courtney takes on the mantle of Stargirl to continue Starman's legacy, Pat's mechanized suit of armor S.T.R.I.P.E. is briefly seen powering up before the heroes assemble.

Based on the superhero character of the same name created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder in 1999's Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #0, Stargirl follows the eponymous superhero as she inspires a new generation to step up and follow the JSA's example.

Originally slated to be a DC Universe exclusive, it was announced this past November that episodes of Stargirl will be broadcast on The CW the day after they premiere on the streaming service. The day following their network television broadcast, episodes of will be available to stream on The CW's streaming platforms as well.

Arriving in spring 2020, DC Universe's Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl), Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton (Starman), Brian Stapf as Ted Grant (Wildcat), Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Rex Tyler (Hourman) and Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman, with Anjelika Washington, Yvette Monreal and Christopher James Baker as undisclosed DC characters.
