The first season of the DC Universe's Titans followed the adventures of a core group of four characters: Dick Grayson, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy. However, as the season progressed, more and more young superheroes joined the series, including Hawk and Dove, Jason Todd and Donna Troy. Then, in Season 2, the cast of Titans kept on adding members to the team's ranks, both in the past and the present when it introduced Aqualad, Rose Wilson, Jericho, Superboy and even Krypto.
The cast of Titans is very large, and Season 2 has shown the series doesn't necessarily have the time to let all of these characters shine as much as they should. Thankfully, it was recently reported that the DC Universe streaming platform is considering widening the Titans brand by developing several spinoffs. So, with so many characters involved in the show, here is a list of four Titans spinoffs we'd like to see.
NIGHTWING
Dick Grayson is, in many ways, the lead character of Titans. And yet, despite that, there is so much time devoted to other members of the team that there isn't enough time to do the Dick justice. In the first two seasons of the show, Dick goes from a dark and disgruntled Robin to the heroic Nightwing, but there's still much of his story left to be told, whether that is in the past or the present. In the comics, Nightwing is a member of the Titans, but he also has solo adventures in his own series. Therefore, a Nightwing spinoff could focus on Dick Grayson by himself.
This would be the perfect opportunity to see the character move to Blüdhaven, a city he is closely associated with in the source material. There, fans could see him resume his career as a police officer by day and vigilante by night. Plus, this would give us the chance to see a whole lot of his new black-and-blue costume in action. A solo Nightwing series would also likely delve a lot more into Dick's relationship with Bruce Wayne, and his time as his crime-fighting partner.
RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS
Although Jason Todd arrived in the middle of Titans' first season, the new Robin quickly proved to be an interesting addition to the series. Jason's story has seen him be at odds with Dick most of the time in some form or another, and Season 2 ended with the character leaving the team and heading off on his own. It's unclear if Jason intends on staying Robin, but this would effectively serve as the perfect launching point for a Red Hood and the Outlaws spinoff series.
Red Hood and the Outlaws is a team comprised of Jason Todd's Red Hood, Starfire and Roy Harper that debuted during DC's New 52 era. If Jason is now on his own in Titans, he could opt to drop the Robin mantle and become something else. By becoming Red Hood, he could put a new team together and start by recruiting Starfire to his cause. What's more, this series could also give the Titans universe the opportunity to introduce Green Arrow's teen sidekick, Roy Harper. With The CW's Arrow now over, a new version of Arsenal/Red Arrow could join the DC Universe streaming service. While this series would effectively work as a smaller ensemble show, it would still give plenty of time for all three members of the team to shine properly.
DONNA TROY
Donna Troy is a character who appeared in both seasons of Titans and yet, she never got her proper due. Fans may have met Donna while she was living in the city and originally past her time as a young superhero, but her story is a promising one that easily deserves its own spotlight. She spent time training on Paradise Island, and she suited up in her own star-spangled armor to fight alongside the Amazon Princess. Fans have seen both Themyscira and Diana Prince on the big screen already in the DC Extended Universe, but they have yet to see what a Wonder Woman/sidekick relationship would look like in a live-action medium.
Unfortunately, Season 2 of Titans ended with the death of Donna Troy. However, the character may yet return if the Amazons are able to somehow bring her back. If that happens, then it would be the perfect launching point for a Wonder Girl series that shows the Titans universe's version of Themyscira and Donna's time spent alongside Wonder Woman. There's been a lot of Batman and Gotham City in live-action, so taking things to Paradise Island would make this spinoff a nice change of pace.
DEATHSTROKE
Slade Wilson joined Titans in Season 2 as the main antagonist of the series. With a comics-accurate costume and a spot-on portrayal of the super-powered mercenary, this version of Slade Wilson quickly became a fan-favorite. Throughout the season, fans learned of the villain's complicated history with the Titans, as well as with his own family. In Season 2, Titans went through elements of the character's most important storylines in relation to the Teen Titans. And when the season came to a close, Deathstroke was left for dead.
Slade could easily return to life in his own solo series thanks to the serum that gives him his superpowers. What's more, with business with the Titans mostly dealt with, Slade would now have the opportunity to act separate from them, as he does in his solo comic series. A Deathstroke television series could easily see the character travel all over the world for his contracts/missions. It could even become a showcase for the wider DC Universe, as Slade could visit multiple cities and locations from the comics while coming across plenty of superheroes and villains.
Streaming now on DC Universe, Titans Season 2 stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Kory Anders, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan, Curran Walters as Jason Todd and Conor Leslie as Donna Troy, with Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger, Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Chelsea Zhang as Rose Wilson, Chella Man as Jericho, Drew Van Acker as Aqualad, Esai Morales as Deathstroke and Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne.
