DC Universe's Swamp Thing has recruited Madame Xanadu. The Walking Dead alum Jeryl Prescott will play the ancient sorceress in a series regular role.

Swamp Thing's Madame Xanadu is described as "a centuries-old sorceress who finds herself reluctantly drawn into battle against the escalating supernatural forces plaguing a small Louisiana town. A blind fortune teller and magical crusader, Xanadu’s heart is in the right place despite her unorthodox methods in the fight against evil."

Created by David Michelinie, Val Mayerik and Michael William Kaluta, Madame Xanadu debuted in 1978's Doorway to Nightmare #1. She has often been associated with Nimue, a sorceress from Arthurian legend. Her mystical abilities include clairvoyance, immortality and a sixth sense for magic.

In addition to The Walking Dead, Prescott has appeared in Ray Donovan, The Skeleton Key and 2016's Birth of a Nation. Her past credits also include Powers, Scandal, Modern Family, Revolution and more.

Set in a fictional Louisiana town called Marais, the small community finds itself drawn into an unrelenting world of supernatural horror after the arrival of Swamp Thing. According to the official series synopsis, "Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe."
