DC Universe's Stargirl has officially arrived.
In a new photo released by the streaming service, Courtney Whitmore stands in her full Stargirl costume. As designed by Laura Jean Shannon, the costume looks like it was ripped straight out of the pages of the comics. Courtney also wields the Cosmic Staff in her right hand, while her trusty pal S.T.R.I.P.E. -- as piloted by her stepfather-turned-sidekick Pat Dugan -- looms in the background.
Unfortunately, the poster doesn't reveal much more than S.T.R.I.P.E.'s leg and a glimpse of his hand. However, it does give S.T.R.I.P.E. a sense of scale. After all, Stargirl stands at his knee, which means the robot-mech is massive.
At WonderCon, the DC Universe panel also updated the streaming service's schedule of upcoming series. Among the updates, Stargirl has been pushed from late 2019 to early 2020. No exact release date was announced.
The series will follow "high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series."
Arriving in 2020, DC Universe's Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore (Stargirl), Joel McHale as Sylvester Pemberton (Starman), Brian Stapf as Ted Grant (Wildcat), Lou Ferringo Jr. as Rex Tyler (Hourman) and Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman, with Anjelika Washington, Yvette Monreal and Christopher James Baker as undisclosed DC characters.
