WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the Harley Quinn Season 2, Episode 2, "Riddle U," now streaming on DC Universe.

Season 2 of DC Universe's Harley Quinn has found Joker's ex and her team of misfits holed up in Gotham Mall struggling with how the city should ideally be run. It's been deemed a No Man's Land by the U.S. government, so when the power starts to fail at the lair, the team decides to raid Riddler U.

Gotham's university has been turned into Riddler's base, one that still has power running, so Harley's crew wants to figure out how and steal whatever battery he's using. As the plan unfolds, though, a major secret is revealed as one of Batman's major villains turns out to be gay: Clayface.

Now, over the years in many comics, cartoons and animated movies, we've seen Clayface shapeshifting in various people, men and women. But he hasn't really had relationships with the former. Here, he decides to take the form of a young student known as Stephanie, who's just as annoying with an altered thespian accent. But Harley and Ivy ban him from the mission, as they know his theatrics will give them away as they infiltrate the campus.

When they do arrive, though, and find that students like Barbara Gordon might not buy their disguises, Stephanie -- with her knack for color coding and crop tops -- shows up to save the day. Their association with her grants them access and, at this point, it's clear Clayface has been moonlighting at the university in his downtime, even before Gotham was razed. One can only assume he's there for theater studies, but as the episode unfolds, it's clear the allure is a pseudo-boyfriend named Chad.

He first mentions Chad while talking to two other students, waxing on about his problems as Chad wants to label the relationship. Now, we're pretty sure Chad doesn't know Stephanie is actually Clayface in disguise, but then again, it's college. Either way, Stephanie also mentions another guy she may have her eyes on is Hunter, who seems to be another big man on campus, and she even mentions his areolas. Clearly, Clayface is getting around as Stephanie in a creepy fashion.

Nonetheless, as freaked out as Harley (aka Heather) and Ivy (aka Isidore) are, they're grateful Stephanie gets them into a fraternity party where Riddler's control room is. There, Clayface once more complains about being Chad's "almost-girlfriend" and how awkward it would be to run into him here as he's been given until the weekend to define their relationship. Chad wants it to be official but Stephanie doesn't want anything more, which is no surprise given Clayface has so many crimes to commit with Harley and Co.

Eventually, they steal Riddler's tech and actually use the fiend himself to run on the hamster wheel that generates electricity, thus saving their mall. But when Clayface, who's finally back in his original form, pulls out his phone after a hot shower, he's still smitten by Chad. He says he's glad to be "free from the petty trappings of campus life" but when Chad messages in, Clayface is desperately and hopelessly in love.
