The DC Universe digital app has seen a major increase in readership between February and April while people around the world stayed indoors to quarantine due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The titles leading the charge in April were writer/artist Sean Murphy's Batman: White Knight #1 and The Batman Who Laughs #1 by writer Scott Snyder and artist Jock.
Readership on DC Universe increased 35 percent between February and April, with over 18 million comics read since the service launched Sept. 2018. Batman: White Knight is a seven-issue Black Label miniseries featuring a reformed Joker trying to make amends for his wicked ways. Meanwhile, The Batman Who Laughs follows the Dark Multiverse version of the Dark Knight, who made his debut during Dark Nights: Metal. The evil villain is a hybrid of The Joker and Batman.
The 23,000th comic was added to DC Universe on Tuesday, May 12. Some of the many titles joining the service this month include Year of the Villain #1 with stories from Brian Michael Bendis, Snyder and more, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III by writer James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II, and the first issue of the terrifying apocalyptic tale in DCeased #1.
DC Universe will also celebrate Scoob! arriving on VOD May 15 with the addition of over 200 Scooby-Doo titles, including Scooby Apocalypse, Scooby-Doo Team-Up and more.
