The Suicide Squad (or Task Force X) has always been one of DC's most interesting teams for one great reason: what if you got some of the most despicable people, in this case mostly supervillains and other criminals, and forced them to go on heroic missions in exchange for parole or shorter prison sentences? That premise has worked time and again to this day as we get to see the complexity of certain members of the team. Is there any good in them after all, or are some of them just fully evil? Add in some bickering, a lot of backstabbing, and missions those good guys wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole and you've got the idea. Throughout the series run, we've gotten to the core of DC's most vile, including mainstays like Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and Bronze Tiger.

But even as the lineup shifts constantly (on account of the whole suicidal missions thing; not everyone's gonna make it out alive), there's always room to explore both new and familiar characters. In the case of this article, we're gonna go with the familiar. A lot of DC's underused or forgotten characters (villains, antiheroes, and even heroes) could benefit from the exposure on this team, and here we'll list 10 whose talents could be useful on those risky assignments.

10 The Creeper

DC's unpredictable antihero, The Creeper, leering

Essentially The Joker if he were a superhero, The Creeper (co-created by the legendary Steve Ditko) has gone through various iterations across comics and animated series. The origin most often used has ex-talk show host Jack Ryder getting injected with a serum that gives him superhuman strength, reflexes, and a maniacal laugh that hurts all who hear it, though his sanity is almost always in question.

It's because of that last tidbit that The Creeper was only briefly a member of both The Outsiders and the Justice League International, but it would make him a real wild card on the already riled up Task Force X. His more villainous teammates wouldn't know if he'd hurt them or help them out on missions, which could make for a great dynamic.

9 Magpie

Magpie New Crop

Magpie started out as a bird-themed C-lister on Batman's rogues gallery, but she has the potential to grow beyond that and more on the Suicide Squad. Taking inspiration from her appearance on Beware the Batman, she could be suffering from dissociative identity disorder. Her desire to restore her missing memories and get revenge on those who (supposedly) took them away could drive her need to survive on the roughest of assignments, though she'd be helped there by her skills with her razor-sharp poisonous claws.

8 Brick

Of course, every lineup of the Squad needs a character who's extremely smart and knows it, analyzing every situation and keeping everyone else in line, whether that's to save themselves or the whole team (when they feel like it). Enter one such individual, Danny Brickwell, better known as Brick. A Green Arrow adversary, Brick is a brilliant and ruthless drug lord, having once gotten all of Star City's gangs under his rule to oppose Oliver Queen. He's also a metahuman with nigh-invulnerable skin that once withstood missiles fired directly at him. With that combination, he's more than a shoo-in in our book.

7 Onomatopoeia

The mysterious, eccentric assassin Onomatopoeia from the pages of DC Comics.

Another wild card-type, the mysterious Onomatopoeia is a serial killer whose targets are non-powered superheroes, having gone up against both Green Arrow and Batman. His name comes from being able to mimic noises around him, such as the snapping of an arrow (as seen above) or the firing of a gun, which he'll often use to confuse his targets. He's been shown to be an intelligent strategist (outwitting both Batman and The Joker) and expert marksman, rivaling even Deadshot in that area. Seeing his talents in Amanda Waller's employ and getting a deeper look into his character could make for some great stories.

6 Silver Banshee

Siobhan Smythe, otherwise known as Silver Banshee, would make for a powerhouse member of Task Force X's line-up. As her name implies, she's capable of emitting high-frequency screams that can kill any enemy (provided she knows their full name), draining their life-force as a means of making her more powerful overall. To top it off, she's incredibly strong and resistant to most injuries, with Kryptonians like Superman and Supergirl even struggling to defeat her at times. With that resume, Amanda Waller might want to keep Banshee on hand at all times.

5 The Trickster (Axel Walker)

Axel Walker, the second Trickster, from DC Comics

While his predecessor James Jesse is arguably the more famous Trickster, Axel Walker still deserves the chance to prove himself worthy of the title. Perhaps shifting him over from the Rogues to the Suicide Squad for a while could be just what he needs to flesh out his character a little more.

Walker would be one the youngest members of the Squad by a long shot, and his immaturity could provide plenty of conflicts with other members, stirring the pot among them even in the worst situations (much like his fellow Rogue and Task Force X icon Captain Boomerang). That's not to say he wouldn't be a valuable teammate: his trick items, such as his flying shoes, bombs, and yo-yos could come in handy on numerous missions.

4 Livewire

Livewire using her electrical abilities

Another Superman rogue, Livewire (formerly Leslie Willis) has the power to absorb and manipulate electricity, and can fire lightning bolts of varying size depending on how much electricity she has stored. While she's played roles here and there throughout DC history, putting her on the Squad would let her develop more as a character. Her feisty and headstrong attitude would also make for some great tension among her teammates.

3 Hector Hammond

While his reputation's been soured by 2011's Green LanternHammond is a character that has potential for the Squad if he's handled the right way.  While his genius-level intelligence would no doubt help out on assignments, Hammond also has access to telekinetic and telepathic powers, including mind control, mind-reading, moving objects, and redirecting energy. And who's to say he wouldn't stir the pot as well? Imagine how his teammates would react if he read their minds without them knowing.

2 Klarion the Witch Boy

Klarion has always been one to cause trouble for the likes of DC's heroes, but seeing him on the Suicide Squad would be massively entertaining. Klarion's prowess in black magic allows him to cast evil spells that suit his needs, whether it's mind control or summoning dark spirits. Despite his powers, he's extremely immature, and would take great pleasure in tormenting his teammates when he doesn't get his way. His cat Teekl would be included as well, with her were-form's enhanced speed and strength aiding Klarion on missions.

1 Firefly

A fan-favorite Batman villain, Garfield Lynns would bring a whole new level of crazy to Task Force X. A demented pyromaniac, Firefly wears a suit equipped with explosives as well as a flamethrower, and a jetpack that allows him to fly and spread fires over large areas.

Aside from serving on the Secret Society of Super Villains at one point, Firefly has usually been on his own during his crime sprees. Putting him on the Suicide Squad next to other villains and heroes (most of whom he'd hate) and in a situation not under his free will could make for some enjoyably unpredictable moments.
