The blue-collar hero of law and order in the Arrowverse, Flash has run his way into the hearts of fans around the world. While he may pal around with billionaires, Kryptonians, and time travelers, Barry Allen has managed to keep his fast feet on the ground, keeping Central City, and the multiverse, safe from all forms of evil.

Even before he gained his powers, Barry was protecting the innocent by working as Central City's best - and maybe only - crime scene investigator. Of course, doing good and helping others isn't a trait that belongs solely to Flash. Plenty of TV heroes have worked to make things better.

10 Doctor Sam Beckett Sacrificed Everything For The Betterment Of Humanity

Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap

As the opening narration of Quantum Leap explains, Doctor Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap Accelerator and vanished. From that day forward, Sam spent his life leaping from life to life, putting things right that once went wrong. Like Barry, Sam was a genius who used his abilities to help others, going so far to sacrifice his own life to make the world a better place.

While Barry hasn't lost his connection to his own life, he has entered situations where it looked like he would need to give his life to save others, and the Fastest Man Alive never paused for a moment. Doctor Beckett and Barry Allen both know the world needs heroes, and they stepped up.

9 Gil Grissom And Barry Allen Could Share Some Work Stories

Gil Grissom from CSI

When Barry Allen first raced onto the four-color page in 1956, the majority of the world had never heard of forensic scientists, but by the time he was introduced into the Arrowverse, Barry's day job was well known, thanks to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In the long-running series, Gil Grissom was the night shift team supervisor for the Las Vegas CSI unit, essentially doing the same job as Barry Allen.

Along with having the same jobs, both Barry and Gil lead their teams, have a great love of science, and lost a parent as children. It's easy to imagine Barry and Gil sitting back with a pizza and talking shop.

8 Barry Could Use Some Parenting Advice From Danny Tanner

Full House cast member Danny Tanner with his daughters

Not all heroes wear costumes or solve crimes; some of them host a morning news show while raising their three daughters. Danny Tanner never battled Reverse-Danny Tanner or any other supervillains, but the Full House father was always there with a kind word and some fatherly advice for his children.

As a dad himself - one who has so far only met future versions of his kids - Barry often finds himself having to give advice to his own children. While Barry is great at punching baddies and stopping tornados, he could probably pick up some tips from Danny.

7 Barry And Fox Mulder Have Both Seem Some Strange Things

Fox Mulder and Dana Scully The X-Files TV Show

Driven by a traumatic event from his childhood, FBI agent Fox Mulder found himself attracted to the weirder FBI cases. As the lead investigator of the X-Files, Mulder spends his days facing off against flukemen, aliens, and even his own Reverse-Flash in the form of the Cigarette Smoking Man. Mulder gave his life over to exploring the unexplored and solving the unsolvable.

Both Mulder and Flash are driven by the truth, and work to try and atone for the events of their past, even though those events weren't their faults. The two men strive to create a better, more open world, but constantly find themselves hitting walls.

6 Doctor Who Is Also Into All That Wibbly-Wobbly, Timey-Wimey Stuff

The Doctors of New Who 2005-Present

Traveling through time is second nature for Flash. The hero of Central City has messed with the timestream so much that he's created a number of branching alternate realities and evil versions of himself, but all of it has worked out in the last second. Someone else who is well versed in messing with time and snatching victory from the jaws of defeat is the good Doctor from Doctor Who.

No matter which version of the Doctor fans love most, there's a bit of Flash to them. The Doctor does what is right, has an unending belief in humanity, and loves to see and experience new things, just like Barry.

5 Dean Winchester Is All About Family

Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester with the Impala in Supernatural

Few things are as important to Flash as his family. Barry is willing to do anything to keep those he loves safe, even changing the course of history to protect them. Another hero who likes to go fast - in his 1967 Chevrolet Impala - and goes all out for his family is Dean Winchester.

The older sibling of Supernatural's Winchester brothers, Dean spends his life fighting horrific evils and doing all he can to keep his family safe. While Dean may have a few run-ins with the law, he is a man who believes in doing what is right and helping others, two qualities that he shares with Barry Allen.

4 Flash Would Have Problems With Dexter Morgan's Style, But They Have A Lot In Common

Dexter

He's a crime scene investigator who secretly fights crime in his spare time and loves his adopted family. The two biggest differences between Flash and Dexter Morgan is that Dexter doesn't have superspeed and Flash doesn't murder the villains.

Dexter Morgan's tactics may not sit well with someone like Flash - mainly the killing of people - but there's no doubt that the two characters have a number of similarities. And considering Flash never brought up the whole "don't kill" issue with Green Arrow, he may be able to look the other way when Dexter does it.

3 Coach Taylor Could Teach Barry How To Give A Good Speech

Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights

Like Flash, Friday Night Lights Coach Taylor leads his team through a number of hard moments. While Flash may be out there saving the universe, Coach Taylor is busy trying to help his players get through their high school years, but both are making a big difference in the world.

The two heroes even have great catchphrases; "My name is Barry Allen and I am the fastest man alive" and "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose" respectively. These men may live very different lives, but they are both heroes to their communities.

2 Captain Kirk Isn't Afraid To Act

captain kirk

Captain Kirk may have been the first hero that fans of Star Trek met, but as the history of Gene Roddenberry's creation has been further explored, it is clear that Kirk is unlike the other captains. Like Flash, Kirk is an on the ground kind of leader. While Picard or Sisko may have been more willing to send out teams while they stayed in their offices, Kirk was always leading the charge.

Flash does the same thing. These two men believe that in order to lead, you need to lead from the front and never ask your team to do things you wouldn't do yourself. They are lead by example heroes who would rather act than react.

1 Buffy Summers Holds The Weight Of The World On Her Shoulders

Buffy performs a musical number

Almost as soon as he became Flash, Barry Allen learned that he would die saving the universe. Barry didn't let this slow him down, though - he continued to do what he could to keep people safe and trusted that, when the time came, he or his team could change his fate. Buffy Summers faced the same situation many times.

Across the seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy faced her prophesied death more than once. She even died twice! Still, Buffy never stopped doing her part as the Slayer, taking on the responsibility of keeping the world safe from vampires, demons and any other evil that crawled out of the Hellmouth.
