Even when things seem to go The Joker's way, he's always had his time in the spotlight ruined. It's practically the law with comic books; no matter how close the villain's plan comes to victory, everything eventually comes crumbling down. Joker's had a lot of losses over the years, but some of his most significant defeats are the ones that hit at home. Be it from the comics or any big-screen adventures, everyone's favorite psycho Clown has suffered some pretty embarrassing losses at the hands of the heroes of the DC Universe and beyond. So, we'll be looking at ten of the Joker's most humiliating defeats.

10 Fooled by King Barlo (Detective Comics #180)

Money can change a person, even someone as vile as the Joker. When the Clown Prince of Crime inherits $250 million from the recently deceased King Barlo, he retires from Crime and goes on a shopping spree. However, Joker has to pay the IRS an inheritance Tax of more than he has remaining or go to jail for tax evasion.

Making matters worse, Joker learns that the money is all fake and a prank from King Barlo. The Joker can either admit the money is counterfeit (becoming the laughing stock of the criminal underworld) or evade the government for life. He does neither and tries to steal some money, only for Batman to stop him and put him in Arkham again.

9 Shot by Harley (Curse of the White Knight)

In the sequel to White Knight, Harley tries her best to save her beloved Jack Napier from Joker. Despite her best efforts, The Joker is too powerful and completely takes over Jack. In a brief moment, Jack keeps the Joker from moving long enough so Harley can get a shot at him. While Joker boasts that she doesn't have the gut to do it, Harley shoots and kills Joker. In his last moments, Jack comes back and smiles at his beloved. Not only was Joker defeated by Harley, but also his better half. Talk about having an "internal conflict."

8 Beaten up by some kids (Joker)

Before the Joker lost it, he was just your ordinary Clown named Arthur Fleck, trying to make a living in Gotham. When the 2019 film opens, Arthur is just trying to get people to come in and shop at a store that's going out of business. However, when a bunch of kids steals his sign, Arthur gives chase to them. Sadly, Arthur is beaten up by the kids, and they break the sign. It's bad enough he's living a miserable life with his sick mom, but did those brats need to beat up the poor guy?

7 Defeated by Good Luck (Batman #44)

In this classic Golden Age story, a popular tv show attempts to debunk a bunch of popular superstitions. However, the Joker attempts to prove them wrong by committing crimes based on these superstitions. Unluckily for him, Batman and Robin stop his bad-luck crime spree with the power of the luckiest item in their possession, Horse Shoes.

They toss a few at the dastardly criminal mastermind, and he falls. What's there to say? The power of good luck defeats Joker. He may have proved that superstitions are to be believed, but not in the way he probably wanted.

6 Failing to drive Gordon Mad (Killing Joke)

killing-joke

In this classic Batman tale, The Joker attempts to prove that all it takes is one bad day to drive a man insane. So, Joker tries to make Gordon go off the deep end by crippling his daughter, show him naked pictures of her, strip Gordon down to his birthday suit, and parades him around a bunch of carnival freaks. When Batman arrives, he finds Gordon quite sane and stops Joker yet again. What makes this defeat so humiliating is that Batman and Gordon prove to the Clown that it takes more than just some sick jokes to drive a man insane.

5 Trapped in Batman's mind (Arkham Knight)

Even in Batman's tainted mind, Joker can't drive Batman crazy. After Joker infected Batman in Arkham City, Batman is slowly transforming into the Joker. The infection spreads even quicker whenever Batman is exposed to Scarecrows fear toxin. In the final act, Batman and Joker duel it out for control of Batman's mind and body.

Thankfully, Batman overcomes Joker and locks him into a mental prison to be forgotten. The real kicker fo this defeat is the way Joker begs for Batman to let him out, before saying that he needs Bruce. Such a pathetic way to go out.

4 Batman almost getting killed by Harley Quinn (Mad Love)

Mad Love: Joker abuses Harley Quinn

Joker is always trying to kill Batman, but it turns out the person who came close was none other than Harley Quinn. She's able to trick Batman into meeting her, only for Joker's right-hand girl to capture him. She ties the Dark Knight above a tank of Piranhas and is about to lower him in until Batman suggests that she invites Joker to his demise. It doesn't plan out the way Harley thinks it does, and Joker shoves her out a window and fails to kill Batman. You just had to let your pride get the better of you, Joker, didn't you?

3 Scared by Charlie Collins (Joker's Favor)

The Joker thinks he can step on every person he comes across, especially the ordinary citizens at Gotham. When Joker threatens to kill Charlie Collins and his family, he gets his old pal to help him out with a job. It doesn't go so well, and Charlie nearly kills Joker with a bomb. Luckily, it turned out to be a dud, and Joker nearly wet his pants for nothing. Sure, Batman may have captured Joker, but it was Charlie that got the last laugh. It just goes to show that you can't go around bullying the citizens of Gotham.

2 Defeated by Daffy Duck (Joker/Daffy Duck)

Several DC heroes and nobodies have defeated the Joker, but he also lost against the insanity that is Daffy Duck of the Looney Tunes. When Daffy attempts to meet with Acme, he instead has a meeting with the Joker and becomes his new henchman. When he learns how insane Joker's latest scheme is, he decides to put a stop to him.

So, he intentionally screws up while on a job, forcing the Joker to flee and getting the attention of Batman. It's not a completely happy ending, as Batman discovers Daffy, and (because Daffy was a part of Joker's crew), he gets thrown into Arkham along with Joker.

1 Plot foiled by Scooby and the gang (Scooby-Doo: Guess Who)

How could this not be number 1? It's bad enough that The Joker is defeated continuously by Batman, even more so when he's been foiled by Daffy Duck, but to have been unmasked by not only Batman but the kids of Mystery Inc.? When Scooby and the gang visit Daphnie's Uncle Alfred, they find that he's been captured by Man-Bat. So, with help from Batman, the group captures Man-Bat and learns that it was Joker the whole time! He kidnapped Alfred so he could get access to Wayne Enterprises' bank account, and he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids and their stupid talking dog!
