When you think of a Superhero, most people think of Batman, Spider-Man or in this case, Superman. Originally created back in 1938 by writer Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman is an international phenomenon who has been alive for over 80 years. While the character had redesigns over his comic run, Superman has always switched back to his classic blue and red tights as introduced in his initial debut. Although still beloved, some fans are not exactly the biggest fans of the red underwear and have taken upon themselves to create their own designs.Related: DC: The 10 Strongest Kryptonians, RankedHere are the 10 fan redesigned Superman costumes that are better than the original.

10 A Superman Of The Great Depression

One of the more unique redesigns on the list, Superman was originally introduced around the time of the Second World War. During this, the concept of the strongman was prevalent, hence why his design was based on those elements. But with this redesign done by Kunal Chopra, it's based more on what he would realistically wear.

If he didn't wear tights, would he simply wear a shirt, army pants and rocking a nice super stache? We would probably never know, but it's a great design for someone that truly calls earth his home.

9 A Truly Alien Design

Imagine the New 52 redesign but amplified to 11. That's essentially what this design by igneousart is. As stated earlier, this design takes cues from the New 52 design created by the immaculate Jim Lee. Based on Kryptonian armor, the suit was able to wrap around Superman like a second skin.

However, unlike that design, igeneousart encourages a more streamlined appearance with the shins looking more like his earlier Golden Age iteration back in 1938. What's more, the cape has this nice leaf design and the symbol is bold yet unique. Able to retain the general shape but looking far more alien.

8 Behold The Power Of A Super Shazam

A very interesting crossover of designs, the relationship Superman has with Shazam is tumultuous, to say the least. Back in their history, these two were active rivals before DC bought the rights of the Shazam character to live alongside the Man Of Steel. Yet with this design done by dc_domination, viewers are treated to a combined and balanced Super Shazam. The color scheme pairs well and the best part is probably the cape design. Not only does it have this unique checkerboard design to it, but the solid embellishment on his shoulders just seals this design as being one of the best.

7 A Fusion Between Two Eras

If readers recall back in DC Rebirth, the Superman from the Post-Crisis era fused with his New 52 self. This resulted in an incredibly balanced design that many fans loved all over. However, what if the design had a different spin to it. Bringing back the red trunks, this redesign created by zacroane, is a mixture of old meets new. While the old design from the Siegel and Shuster era is still present, there are some elements from the New 52 era as well. However, the new accents such as the seams, the more advanced boots, and even the shield show a new almost science fiction-esque design that you can almost believe came from another planet.

6 A Blast From The Past

Another design that seems to take the same approach as the first design on the list, this one is more subtle, however. Taking cues from the Man Of Steel film, the hair cut and emblem are more synonymous with that era, although the emblem is still something from the early Golden Age Superman stories.

The pants have this nice farmboy design and the rolled-up sleeve is a nice little touch. Although subtle and simple in execution, it nevertheless helped hit a solid Superman design for whichever era it's a part of.

5 A Sci-fi Icon

For those that may not be aware, Superman was greatly inspired by characters such as John Carter. Taking elements from those science fiction characters, this Superman design by James Tennant Jr helps illustrate the roots that the character originally came from. Looking more like a space cop rather than a superhero, the design helps illustrate the aspect of Superman the explorer. Something that happens from time to time. Aside from that, the design is well balanced, with the red and blue color scheme appropriately placed. The gold colors are also well placed, being only where it really matters.

4 Champion Of The Downtrodden

One of the most unique ones out of this list. Created by Ellis III, it is perhaps the opposite to the previous entry on the list, this redesign looks at Superman as a wrestler. Just like a wrestler in shows such as WWE, the character would connect with the fans and make them love or hate him. Superman has always been a character whose greatest appeal has always been his connection with humanity. In a sense, this is a beautiful way to illustrate that aspect of the character, something that Ellis III definitely succeeds with.

3 Injustice

If you remember the Injustice games by Netherrealm studios, readers would know that the universe had an evil Superman with his design being armored. Driven by the loss of Lois Lane, this Superman became an evil dictator. This design helps to highlight that.

The strong black and blue colors, that is combined with a black and red S symbol helps make this Superman look fearsome and someone that doesn't mess around. It looks sturdy and designed for war, which makes for a strong and terrifying look for the Man Of Steel.

2 The Sun God

For those that aren't aware, Superman's powers evolved over the course of the character's lifespan. Originally born with the abilities of his home planet, it was from the Silver Age onwards that made Superman's powers be derived from the sun. But what if his abilities with the sun became something literal, that is the concept that's been explored by SkipperWing! With a Superman that looks as if he is fused with the Human Torch, it shows a vibrant yet cheerful version of the Man of Steel. Even when he is on fire.

1 The Man Of Steel

Sometimes the best redesigns are the ones that look like a natural evolution of the classic formula. Looking like a mixture between Kingdom Come Superman and the DC Rebirth Superman design, this Superman by Luis F. is incredibly clean looking. By using a nice shade of blue and having the red and yellow shine where it matters, it helps create a design that can truly stand out on its own. It is even able to retain some of the New 52 aesthetics to keep it towards its alien roots without going too overboard.
