Even superheroes fall in love, no matter how much they might like it or not, and DC superheroes are no exception. Throughout the years, there have been many iconic couples in the DC comics, but also a lot of those that were much less-known or accepted by the fans.
You might be surprised to discover how many DC superheroes found the time to fall in love, sometimes get married and establish a family even while they were busy fighting their many enemies. Sometimes, their children ended up alright, other times, unfortunately, not so much. Either way, here are 10 DC superheroes, the most famous ones included, whom you didn't know were parents.
10 The Flash
If you're watching the Arrowverse shows, more specifically The Flash, then you'll know that Barry Allen had a daughter named Nora West-Allen with his wife Iris. But Barry isn't the only superhero holding the mantle of the Flash who had children.
In the comics, instead of having a daughter called Nora, Barry and Iris had twins Dawn and Don. And the list doesn't end there. Wally West also had twins with his wife Linda Park, Jai and Iris, who inherited their dad's powers, which caused them to age from newborn babies to pre-teen children in less than a year's time.
9 Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman's history when it comes to children is even more complicated than in the case of the Flash. Since various reboots, alternative universes, and other rewrites happened in the comics, Wonder Woman has had more than one child but barely anyone remembers it nowadays.
The DCEU Diana would be happy to know that her comic book counterpart had a daughter with Diana's lost love, Steve Trevor. In a few alternate universes, Wonder Woman and Superman had biological sons together. And then there's their presumed son Hunter who came back from the future, but he hated Diana because she left him when she found out her child would be a boy.
8 Wonder Girl
In the world of superheroes, almost everything is possible, even when it comes to meeting your future children from alternate futures. Donna Troy aka Wonder Girl is another member of the wonder-family who had a child but no longer does.
Before the comics got rebooted, Donna had married Terry Long who worked as a teacher and they had a son named Robert together. But the family's happiness was short-lived when Robert and Terry died in a car accident not long afterward. She also met a future version of her son who was evil and called himself Lord Chaos but he later disappeared when baby Robert died.
7 Green Arrow
The comic book Green Arrow is very different from the one played by Stephen Amell in the Arrowverse and the TV show Arrow. Amell's Oliver Queen has a son named William Clayton whom he didn't know about for a long time and only started raising after William's mom died. He also had a daughter named Mia with his wife Felicity Smoak.
But the comic book Green Arrow doesn't have a son William. Instead, he had a son Connor Hawke which happened during the playboy period of his time and Oliver didn't raise Connor. He also had a son Robert with Shado before the comics got rebooted.
6 Nightwing
Dick Grayson aka Nightwing will always be remembered as Batman's first Robin who later grew up and formed his own superhero identity. Dick had a romance with Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl, but these two didn't have children. At least on one Earth. On Earth-2, Dick's fate was much different.
He took on the mantle of Batman when the Trinity - Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman - died. He also had to deal with the death of his wife Barbara, and the fact that he had to raise his son John Grayson as a solo parent. To complete the circle, once he was older, John became Robin.
5 Catwoman
Catwoman mostly kicks for the bad guy team or moves on the fine line between being a villain and an antihero, but in the comic book version where she had a daughter, she left her villainous days long behind so she deserves a spot on this list. On Earth-2, Selina Kyle married Bruce Wayne. They had a daughter named Helena Wayne who later became the Huntress, a nickname usually associated with Helena Bertinelli.
Helena was intelligent as her father and charming and calculating as her mother and she even briefly appeared on Earth-1 before she was replaced by the updated version of Helena Bertinelli.
4 Aquaman
Superheroes face a lot of tragedies in their life, a danger closely connected to their chosen line of work. But some of them experienced the worst tragedy any parent can imagine - the death of their own children. This happened not only to Wonder Girl but also to Aquaman.
He and his wife Mera ruled Atlantis together and they had a child named Arthur after the boy's dad. Arthur Jr. was also nicknamed the Aquababy. Unfortunately for the happy family, before Arthur Jr. had the chance to grow up, he was killed by Aquaman's main enemy Black Manta, which caused Aquaman and Mera to become estranged for a long time.
3 Batman
Yes, almost everybody knows that Batman has a lot of adopted children who form an important part of his large bat-family. But even so, in case you've only watched the live-action movies, you might not know that Damian who also is Batman's Robin is the caped crusader's biological son. Batman had him with Talia Al Ghul, which proves for once and for all that Batman does have a thing for female villains.
And there's also Helena Wayne from Earth-2 who was already mentioned above whom Bruce had with Selina. But the most obscure child is Bruce Wayne jr. who later formed the team Super Sons alongside Clark Kent jr. in the 1960s.
2 Starman
The most obscure superhero on this list whom you won't know unless you read the comics from this time period is Starman. Starman was a Golden Age hero and he had two boys. One of them was killed but the other, named Jack, who's visible in the picture above, followed in his father's footsteps and also became a superhero. He even joined a new version of the JSA aka Justice Society of America.
As for his skills, thanks to his cosmic staff Jack could absorb stellar energy, fly, and also fire blasts of energy, which made him a formidable opponent to every villain who'd be foolish enough to cross his way.
1 Superman
Who better to close the list with than the ultimate super-dad, Superman himself? After all, while he may not look like it, Superman has had his fair share of children, and with more than one mom. The love of his life is his work colleague Lois Lane, of course, with whom he had one or two children, depending on the source material you're reading. Most famous is his son Jon (Jonathan).
And then there's Superman's relationship with Wonder Woman, which in alternate realities also led to the couple having kids. Finally, while he's not technically Superman's son, Conner Kent was partially created from Kal-El's genetic material which makes him related to Superman.
