One of the best things in comics is when different characters or teams come together. We know we're in for something crazy when the X-Men and the Avengers come together. We know some serious stuff is about to go down when the Justice Society and the Justice League team-up. These are the moments we all look forward to, the big stories that bring our favorite characters together.

Amazingly, even though DC Comics has been around for over 80 years, there are still some big characters and teams who have never come together for an old fashioned crossover event. Some of these may seem obvious, which will leave you wondering what the long wait has been all about, while others may hit you as a pairing you never even thought of. Here are 10 epic DC superhero team-ups that haven't happened yet...

10 Teen Titans and the Legion of Super-Heroes

Somehow, the two best-known teen teams in DC Comics have never teamed up for an adventure. The Teen Titans have found time to fight alongside the X-Men, but they never seemed to make it to the 31st Century to meet up with the heroes of the future. It's even more shocking when you consider that these two teams were DC's biggest sellers in the early 1980s.

Now that the Legion of Super-Heroes are back in action after a long hiatus, maybe this crossover can come to pass. Robin did have a quick visit to the 31st Century, now the next time he goes he just needs to bring his team with him!

9 Elongated Man and Lois Lane

He's one of the greatest detectives in the DC universe. She's the greatest investigative journalist on Earth. Recently we saw that Lois Lane had hired Elongated Man to be a part of her secret team of detectives looking into Event Leviathan, but somehow these two great clue solvers have never teamed up.

Imagine, if you will, Lois Lane and Elongated Man leading the way as Superman and Sue Dibny cheered on their partners. Are they looking for missing diamonds? Are they seeking out the secret headquarters of an alien invasion team? The wild and crazy misadventures these two could get in to could be quite the story!

8 Batman and Mister Miracle

These two characters have crossed paths in the past, but the idea of Batman, the World's Greatest Detective, and Mister Miracle, the universe's greatest escape artist, coming together to solve a mystery would send many fans over the moon. Add in Big Barda and Catwoman, and you have one of DC's longest-running marriages teaming up with the newest couple on the block.

This is a team-up that could travel from Gotham to New Genesis and back, revealing secrets of the New Gods that no one knew before. Batman could teach Mister Miracle how to track a criminal, and Mister Miracle could teach Batman about the importance of a vegetable tray.

7 Teen Titans and Young Justice

There are two teen teams running around the current day DC universe and somehow they haven't come into contact yet. Surely DC can see the advantages of having the Teen Titans and Young Justice meet up. Both teams are led by a Robin, or at least one Robin and one former Robin. Both have Flash sidekicks. Both are filled with possibilities.

Damian Wayne doesn't come across like the kind of kid who would like the idea of a second teen team going around impressing Batman and the rest of the Justice League. It seems like he would want to test his Titans against this new crew sooner rather than later.

6 Wonder Twins and Wonder Woman

As interns of the Justice League and two of the newest members of Young Justice, the time has come for Zan and Jayna, better known as the Wonder Twins, to start mixing it up with the rest of the DC universe, and who better for them to go on an adventure with than Wonder Woman? More than any other member of the Justice League, Wonder Woman knows the importance of working together. Superman, Green Lantern, and the others grew up as only children, but Diana learned to work with her sisters, and that is something Zan and Jayna know as well.

5 Flash and Impulse

Flash Impulse

It seems crazy, but Barry Allen, the current Flash, hasn't teamed up with Impulse, his grandson from the future. Now that Impulse is back from traveling the multiverse with Young Justice, there's no reason for him not to go see his grandma and grandpa, and you can bet that Barry and Iris would have some serious questions.

Talk about your Back to the Future situations; Barry and Iris' relationship is in a better place now than it was just a few months ago, but it still doesn't seem like the two of them plan on getting married anytime soon, and if they don't get married, could that lead to Impulse never existing? Bart needs to get his grandpa to proposed soon!

4 Superboy and Superboy

Superboy Conner Kent Jon Kent

Conner Kent is the clone of Superman and Lex Luthor, essentially making him the son of Superman. Jon Kent is the actual son of Superman and Lois Lane. Both of these teen heroes are now running around the DC universe calling themselves Superboy, and if they don't come together for a story soon, fans will freak out.

Of course, the question becomes, who would be a big enough threat to bring the two Superboys together? How about Superboy-Prime? Sure, Superboy-Prime is dealing with Shazam at the moment, but that won't last forever. And the three Superboys facing off would fill the fanbase with so much excitement you could power a city from that energy.

3 Justice Society and the Legion of Super-Heroes

The Justice Society of America is the first superhero team in history. Without them, there would be no Justice League, no Titans, and no Legion of Super-Heroes. Amazingly, the Legion and the JSA have never come together to face off against a bigger threat. Thom Kallor, aka Star Boy, was a member of both teams at different points, but that was the pre-Flashpoint and New 52 and Rebirth versions of these teams, so it remains to be seen if that is still the case.

The obvious choice for the villain that would bring the Justice Society and the Legion of Super-Heroes together is the Time Trapper. He's a time-traveling villain, so the story could see the World War II era JSA head off to the future, or the Legion go back to the past. Either way, it's surprising these two teams have never come together.

2 The Superman Family and the Batman Family

Superman family next to Bat family

Superman and Batman have teamed up plenty of times. So have Superboy and Robin. Batgirl and Supergirl have even teamed up on occasion. But what about all of them at the same time? When will we see the Superfamily and the Batfamily come together to handle a threat too big for either family alone?

There are no better-known families in comics than these two families, and it is high time they got together to do some serious superheroing. Heck, they could just get together for a barbecue at Wayne Manor or on the Kent Farm and fans would be excited to see it.

1 Jimmy Olsen and Lobo

Jimmy Olsen has had plenty of adventures with your more conventional superheroes of the DC universe, and we know the kid can ride a motorcycle, so why not send him off on assignment with the Main Man himself? Jimmy Olsen tagging along with Lobo on a bounty hunt, snapping pics as the Last Czarnian shoots and stabs his way to finding his bounty and getting paid. These two would be the mixed up pair of the century. And who knows, maybe some of Jimmy's manners would rub off on Lobo.
