The deep-cut DC character Ambush Bug is about to join the Suicide Squad.

As part of its September solicits, DC Comics has revealed the official synopsis for Suicide Squad #7 by Robbie Thompson, Eduardo Pansica and Julio Ferreira. Slated to hit comic shops on Tuesday, Sept. 7, the issue features a main cover by Pansica and a variant cover by Kevin Maguire. Pansica's cover sees Ambush Bug armed with an assortment of random items and sporting a Task Force X vest, as well as what appears to be Peacemaker's helmet, all while saluting and thinking to himself, "I think I'm in the wrong book."

"Amanda Waller pulls in her newest recruit to Task Force X: the unstoppable and outstanding Ambush Bug!" the issue's synopsis reads. "With a mission that literally takes the Squad to hell and back, the sometimes fourth-wall-breaking hero may be the team's only chance at survival. Embarking on a quest to gain access to the Rock of Eternity, the Squad must also face the threat of Rick Flag, who’s on the hunt for Waller's head."

Created by Paul Kupperberg and Keith Giffen, Irwin Schwab/Ambush Bug is a rather obscure, occasionally fourth wall-breaking character who first appeared in 1982's DC Comics Presents #52. Despite decidedly being one of DC's more esoteric figures, however, Ambush Bug has managed to maintain a presence in the publisher's pages over the years, appearing as recently as last month as part of writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson's run on Superman.
