DC Comics has never stopped pumping out new heroes. The writers, artists, editors, and other creators at the comic book company are still trying new ideas, new hero concepts, and new designs that, hopefully, fans will grow attached to and watch the characters grow.

Some of these new heroes are quite powerful. While not every new superhero is intended to be someone who can beat Superman, some of them are definitely in the same punching weight as the Man of Steel. Some of DC's new heroes are downright powerhouses who could easily find themselves in the same class as the Justice League.

10 The Unexpected Were A Team Of Wayward Warriors

The Unexpected were a team first introduced in Dark Nights: Metal #6 in 2018 and were created by Steven Orlando and Ryan Sook. The team consisted of Neon the Unknown, Ascendant, Viking Judge, and Firebrand. The team was intended to defend Earth from threats across the Multiverse.

Ascendent and Viking Judge were virtually immortal and immensely strong. Firebrand offered superspeed and pyrokinesis. Their leader, Neon the Unknown, had the "Fires of Creation" which, among other things, allowed him to control and alter inorganic matte.

9 The Immortal Men Were An Undying Group Of Hidden Heroes

The Immortal Men came from the same New Age of Heroes as the Unexpected. The Immortal Men first appeared in Dark Days: The Forge in 2017 and were created by James Tynion IV and Jim Lee. Their members are Caden Park, Immortal Man, Reload, Stray, Ghost Fist, and Timber.

True to their name, all of the Immortal Men are immortal. Ghost Fist is a spirit capable of controlling "Ghost Energy", using it to produce energy blasts and teleport. Immortal Man is a skilled fighter and experienced leader. Caden Park can view the memories of others through physical contact. Timber can grow to gigantic size. Stray is an animal-like creature with sharp claws and teeth and enhanced senses. Reload has limited time manipulation powers, which he mostly uses to fire the same bullet from a gun over and over again.

8 Brimstone (Joseph Chamberlain) Is A Demonic Force For Good

Brimstone was another character introduce with the New Age of Heroes and first appeared in 2018 in his own comic, The Curse of Brimstone #1 by Justin Jordan and Philip Tan. Joe Chamberlain made a deal with a man at a crossroads, and the result was a demonic transformation that gives Joe incredible strength and durability as well as the ability to emit and control fire.

Like many of these New Age of Heroes characters, Brimstone hasn't been seen in some time since his comic was canceled.

7 Sideways Is A Universe-Hopping Superhero With Endless Potential

Sideways is a young superhero who has the ability to jump between dimensions. He first appeared in 2018 in his own book, Sideways #1, created by Dan DiDio and Kenneth Rocafort.

In addition to the dimensional teleportation, Sideways has superhuman strength and speed. He's spent some time helping the Seven Soldiers of Victory and was even part of Young Justice for a time.

6 The New Green Lanterns (Baz, Cruz, Mullein, Pham, And Quintela) Are Credit To The Corps

There have been several new Green Lantern Corpsmen from Earth in the past decade. It started with Simon Baz, created by Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke in 2012. Next came Jessica Cruz by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis in 2014.  After that was Keli Quintela the Teen Lantern by Brian Michael Bendis and Patrick Gleason in 2019. Then there was Sojourner "Jo" Mullein by N.K. Jemisin and Jamal Campbell in 2020. Finally, there is Tai Pham of Green Lantern: Legacy by Minh Lee and Andie Tong, also in 2020.

Each new Green Lantern is innately quite powerful thanks to the power that comes with being a Green Lantern. Furthermore, each member adds a new perspective and approach to the Corps, ensuring their justice is fair across the universe.

5 Damage (Ethan Avery) Is A Hulk-like Agent Of Destruction

Damage is another New Age of Heroes character, this time coming from Dark Days: The Casting #1 in 2017. He was created by Robert Venditti and Tony S. Daniel.

Damage, aka Ethan Avery, can turn into a hulking brute for one hour each day. During this time, Damage is immensely strong, can heal incredibly fast, and is virtually invulnerable. He at first worked for the United States military but eventually went on the run. While doing so, he went up against the entire Suicide Squad on his own.

4 OMAC (Kevin Kho) Is A Cybernetic Powerhouse With Massive Strength

OMAC is an older character in DC Comics continuity, but he got a new start as Kevin Kho in OMAC #1 by Dan DiDio and Keith Giffen in 2011. Kevin Kho has a connection to the sentient satellite Brother Eye, which was originally created by Batman. Kevin is constantly connected to Brother Eye, and the satellite can transfer energy to Kevin, turning him into OMAC--or the One-Man Army Corps.

Kevin Kho ran afoul of people like Maxwell Lord and Superman, but he was still recruited to Justice League International and even the Suicide Squad for a time. However, Kevin lost his powers more recently during a Metal Men story by Dan DiDio and Shane Davis. As OMAC, Kevin was invulnerable, super-strong, had boundless stamina, and could shoot energy blasts.

3 The Shazam Family Might Be The Strongest Team On Earth

Shazam is far from a new character, but the expanded Shazam Family is a new addition to DC continuity. Older characters like Billy Batson, Black Adam, Mary Bromfield (formerly Mary Batson/Mary Marvel), and Freddy Freemen have been around for years. However, when Billy discovered he could share his Shazam powers, he brought his foster siblings Darla Dudley, Eugene Choi, and Pedra Pena into the Shazam Family.

This first took place in Justice League #21 in a backup story by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. That said, the Shazam Family must split up their power evenly. However, each member can still fly, has super-strength and superspeed, can project magical lightning, and even has limited access to magic spells.

2 Naomi McDuffie Is A Super-Strong Hero From Another Earth

Naomi McDuffie is a girl from another Earth. She has little memory of her past, but she became fascinated with superheroes after she witnessed Superman fighting Mongul in her small hometown on our Earth. She would later discover her own other-dimensional origins and would gain superpowers of her own. Naomi can fly, has super-strength and superspeed, and can shoot energy blasts.

Naomi first appeared in Naomi #1 by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell in 2019. She spent some time with Young Justice and has recently joined the ranks of the Justice League.

1 Superman (Val-Zod) Replaced The Fallen Man Of Steel On Earth-2

On Earth-2 in the New 52, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman all fell to Darkseid's armies when they invaded Earth. Over time, they would be replaced with the Flash (Jay Garrick), Green Lantern (Alan Scott), the Atom (Al Pratt), Hawkgirl, Commander Steel, Red Tornado (Lois Lane), a new Batman (Thomas Wayne), and a new Superman in Val-Zod.

Val-Zod, as one could tell from the name, comes from the Zod family on Krypton. Val-Zod became the new Superman after the death of Clark Kent, but Val-Zod is a pacifist. He would only use his powers to save and protect others--never fight. However, he has been forced into combat on a few occasions. He first appeared in Earth-2 #19 by Tom Taylor, Nicola Scott, and Robson Rocha in 2014.
