An incredibly smart kid with a rough childhood, Virgil Hawkins became a superhero when he was caught in an experimental gas. While that gas turned him into a powered hero, it also turned several others who were also on-site into supervillains. The event in question was known in his home as the Big Bang.
Taking the name Static, Virgil used his new electromagnetic and electrokinetic powers to fight the villains created by the Big Bang and more. But Marvel has more than a few villains who could make the fight interesting for Static.
10 LOSE TO: Magneto
When it comes to electromagnetism, Static is one of the most powerful heroes around. He wields that power with a level of expertise few can match. Well, except for Magneto, the mutant his allies and enemies refer to as the Master of Magnetism. Even though Static has a wider range of abilities than Magento, he is more experienced and proficient with them than Static is with his abilities.
You also have to take into account that even when Magneto is considered a good guy, he's incredibly vicious. When he's full-on villain, he'll tear all the metal out of your body for looking at him funny.
9 DEFEAT: Blob
At first glance, it seems like Blob's mutant ability is pretty much just being incredibly fat. That's because it is. Once Blob plants himself, no one can move him. His incredible mass can absorb almost any physical attack. Additionally, Blob is also strong as well as being a surprisingly capable street brawler.
The man can throw down when the moment calls for it. But he's not taking down Static. He doesn't need to hit Blob or even get within arm's reach to use his powers. Static can stay at a safe distance and attack him with electric blasts, which is the most basic application of his abilities.
8 LOSE TO: Klaw
From a scientific perspective, pitting Static and Klaw would be interesting to say the least. A physicist obsessed with manipulating sound, Klaw's experiments required Vibranium. This quite naturally caused him to run afoul of the Black Panther, first T'Chaka who he killed in combat and then his son T'Challa.
Klaw ended up becoming a being of solid sound, using a Vibranium emitter on his arm to manipulate it. What makes this fight unique is seeing how Klaw's sonic abilities would mi with Static's electromagnetic and electrokinetic abilities. Unless Static could injure Klaw somehow, he's most likely losing this one.
7 DEFEAT: Shocker
A recurring enemy of Spider-Man, Shocker has one of the worst names in the game. It gives the impression that he has some sort of electrical powers, which he most assuredly does not. He wears a pair of gauntlets he designed himself that project intense blasts of compressed air, creating an impressive concussive force.
The only shocking thing about the guy is his bad fashion sense. Daredevil quickly gave up on the yellow and brown suit, and he's blind. Shocker doesn't stand a chance against Static, someone with real power to work with.
6 LOSE TO: Wizard
While Wizard might not have any actual superpowers, he's one of those guys who's so smart it seems like he has powers. But being a genius with several Ph.Ds isn't the only ability at his disposal. Wizard is also an accomplished stage magician, master of disguises and escapologist.
His scientific genius combined with his flair for theatrics helped him to create armor and gadgets strong enough to take on the Fantastic Four. Wizard seems kind of silly at first but he's incredibly dangerous and should be taken seriously. Static is not going to beat him on his own. Few can.
5 DEFEAT: Sandman
Like many villains, Sandman is often confused about his place in the world. He has played the role or both hero and villain at different times in his career, though he is definitely more notable as a villain. Sandman's body is comprised entirely of sand which he has full control over. He can change his size and shape, forming devastating weapons as required.
It's also incredibly difficult to injure him as his sand body absorbs all impacts. But Static doesn't have to worry about any of that as his electrokinetic abilities would do significant damage to Sandman.
4 LOSE TO: Thanos
The Mad Titan is as powerful as they come, though not invulnerable or unbeatable. He's lost more than a few fights in his day, and been outsmarted more often than he'd like to admit. But that doesn't change the fact that he's dangerous and powerful. In Static, he'd see an opportunity first and foremost.
Thanos would undoubtedly try to recruit the young hero to his side as someone with Static's abilities would be valuable to him. But Static would refuse the offer and a fight would ensue, one he wouldn't win. Thanos might not win every fight but he would win this one.
3 DEFEAT: Green Goblin
Norman Osborn is a lunatic and a jerk. Given the shocking number of crimes he is well known to have committed against the people of New York, the United States and the world, he should be in prison for several lifetimes. But no prison can seem to hold Norman.
While his gear, weapons and even powers seem to change every time he pops up, it's unlikely that he'll arrive with a level of power to match Static's. Even if he has a symbiote, Static would still make short work of him. The best part is that Static wouldn't put up with his crap and just dish out a beating.
2 LOSE TO: Doctor Doom
Sending anyone to fight Doctor Doom by themselves is a borderline death sentence. The man is a super genius with a badass suit of armor and a mastery over dark magic. Doctor Doom is a legitimate contender for the coolest super villain of all time, which makes the many failures to turn him into a live action movie villain that much more disappointing.
Static has an incredible amount of power at his disposal but Doctor Doom is on another level. That doesn't make Static weak, though. No one should step into the ring by themselves with the Doctor. Taking Doom on is, and always will be, a team effort.
1 DEFEAT: Electro
When it comes to supers who like to wield electricity, Marvel has its fair share of contenders to Static's crown. Like Electro. An long time Spider-Man enemy, Electro has become a bigger villain than one hero's rogues gallery. He has the ability to generate and store vast amounts of electricity, releasing it as powerful blasts.
Electro can manipulate electricity in a variety of ways, mess with people's minds and generate electromagnetic shields. But as powerful and skilled as Electro is, Static is just a little more powerful and a little more skilled. It would be close but he would be able to defeat Electro.
