Poison Ivy is finally reunited with her former love, Harley Quinn, in the ninth issue of her solo series.

Written by G. Willow Wilson and drawn by Marcio Takara, a preview of Poison Ivy #9 opens with Ivy lounging on the steps of the new Seattle house she shares with Janet, a woman Ivy saved from an abusive boss in the prior issue, and who in turn cured Ivy when she briefly transformed into a mutated plant horror. Just as Ivy heads back inside, suddenly, Harley Quinn appears on the doorstep, acknowledging that she's received the many letters sent by Ivy during her trip across the United States. Ivy is so shocked to see her old beau again that she drops her cup of coffee, but how well the two's reunion will go remains a mystery until the issue goes on sale.

Why Poison Ivy Left Harley Quinn

Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn were last a couple at the conclusion of the late 2021 "Fear State" event, which ran across Batman and other titles, including Harley Quinn. Ivy was briefly split into two separate beings over the course of the story: a cold version of untethered power named Queen Ivy, and a more kindhearted, innocent self. Though Ivy was made whole again by her two halves merging at the end of "Fear State," her and Harley went their separate ways after a bad date where the former hurt the latter in Harley Quinn #10. Poison Ivy later revealed that Ivy going on her self-discovery journey also resulted from couple fighting over Harley's team-up with a former flame of Ivy's, the Gardener, during "Fear State."

When Ivy left Gotham City to find herself, she also took on a new mission: getting revenge upon humanity by unleashing toxic lamia spores across the world. This goal in Poison Ivy has seen her move westward and soften her bioterrorism ideas as she increasingly comes into contact with good people on the road. Along the way, Poison Ivy had a quick fling with a woman named Jesslyn, something Harley should be aware of being that Ivy wrote about it in one of her letters. Harley received Ivy's letters towards the end of Poison Ivy #6, an issue that set up their reunion by having Harley say aloud, "Hold on, baby. I'm on my way."

Poison Ivy #9 is penned by Wilson, penciled by Takara, colored by Arif Prianto and lettered by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. The issue features a main cover by Jessica Fong and variant covers by Mindy Lee, Terry Dodson, Sweeney Boo, Dan Mora and Rian Gonzales. Poison Ivy #9 goes on sale Feb. 7 from DC Comics.
