As the allegations of years of sexual misconduct linked to famous comic book writer Warren Ellis surfaced this past week, DC Comics has reportedly decided to pull Ellis' planned short story tying into its current crossover event Dark Nights: Death Metal.Ellis was originally slated to have a two-page short story with artist Jim Cheung in August's anthology tie-in special Dark Nights: Death Metal - Legends of the Dark Knights #1. According to retailer Ryan Higgins, owner of California's Comics Conspiracy, Ellis' short story has been replaced by one written by Marguerite Bennett and illustrated by Jamal Igle.RELATED: Wonder Woman Wails on Batman Who Laughs Guitar in Mahnke Death Metal Variant

According to the original advance solicitation information for the special, the one-shot will feature a collection of short stories examining each of the Dark Knights recruited by the Batman Who Laughs from the Dark Multiverse to rewrite the DC Universe in their hellish image.

Earlier this week, several women publicly accused Ellis of sexual misconduct, including soliciting women in their late teens and early 20s for nude photos and sending them sexually explicit emails and text messages for years. Ellis has since issued a public statement apologizing for past behavior, which has been met with mixed reactions.

Written and illustrated by a whole host of superstar comic book creators, Dark Nights: Death Metal - Legends of the Dark Knights #1 goes on sale August 4 from DC Comics.
