A relaunch of the New 52 title of the same name that initially launched in 2012, DC Comics' Red Hood and the Outlaws debuted under the Rebirth banner in May of 2017. With the release of issue #27 in October of 2018, the comic's title was officially changed to Red Hood: Outlaw. The "Outlaw" era now officially comes to an end this November, as a new creative team prepares to take over the solo adventures of Jason Todd for November's Red Hood #51.

Red Hood #51 is written by Shawn Martinbrough (Detective Comics, Luke Cage Noir) and illustrated by Tony Akins (Wonder Woman, Hellblazer: Papa Midnite). "A new era begins for the Red Hood!" the solicit promises, with DC having previously teased the title change back in July, before writer Scott Lobdell announced his departure from the book. "With his Outlaw days behind him, Jason Todd returns home to Gotham City." Naturally, it isn't all smooth sailing for Jason, as in trying to track down an old childhood friend, he finds himself caught in the crossfire of a battle between vigilantes and criminals in the aftermath of "Joker War."
