DC is re-releasing its massive George Peréz birthday celebration spread as an open to order variant for the upcoming Dark Crisis #7.
DC announced that the previously released George Peréz birthday tribute -- which features artwork from some of the comics' industries biggest names, including Todd McFarlane, Alex Ross, Walter Simonson and more -- will come packaged as a variant cover for Dark Crisis #7. Retailers who order 50 copies of every Dark Crisis homage variant cover will also recieve a foil variant of the Peréz tribute cover. A special version of the Peréz Dark Crisis #7 variant will additionally be available for sale by The Hero Initiative, a non-profit organization which helps create a financial safety net for comic creators in need, to raise money for one of Peréz's favorite charities.

DC first released the tribute to Peréz in April. Celebrating the legendary writer and artist's 68th birthday on June 9, the two-page spread features a number of DC characters that Peréz has worked on over the years. "When I was asked to come up with a design and layout that would honor George Pérez and his many incredible contributions to DC Comics over the years, I was truly honored," Dan Jurgens, who did the layout design, said. "I have admired George’s work since I first saw it and have had the good fortune to work with him in different capacities, on a number of projects. More importantly, I’ve been able to see the way George treats fans and readers, always smiling, gregarious and approachable. It was a joy to watch this cover come together and I’m sure everyone who contributed feels the same way."
Dark Crisis is a massive DC event set after the death of all but one member of the Justice League, which occurs in DC's Justice League #75. Dark Crisis officially launches on May 7 with a Free Comic Book Day issue, followed by Dark Crisis #1 on June 7.
