The following contains spoilers for Olympus: Rebirth #1, on sale now from DC Comics.

With the return of the gods comes a new foretelling of how Wonder Woman Diana Prince will die.

Hippolyta, Diana's mother, has left the mortal plane to join Olympus as the new Goddess of the Amazons. Her place among the Greek gods is explored in Olympus: Rebirth #1 by writers Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad with artist Caitlin Yarsky. In the one-shot issue, Hippolyta is shown a vision of Diana dying in the future, facing her end by a dagger stabbed into her chest.

Whether Diana's future murder is a prophesied truth or a mere lie remains unclear. Hippolyta is shown her superhero daughter dead after trying to see Diana's current state on Earth, with the goddess Hera then appearing to tell Hippolyta, "What you see is a prophecy... one my agents on Earth will shortly fulfill." After Hippolyta kills Hera though, the goddess Hecate reveals that she conjured the illusion of both Diana and Hera to test the gods' newest member, meaning that neither Diana nor Hera have died.

Well, at least not in this issue.

Wonder Woman Already Died in DC's 'Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths'

If Wonder Woman is to be stabbed to death in a future issue, it wouldn't be the first time that she has met a tragic fate in recent months. Released in April 2022, Justice League #75 or "The Death of the Justice League" saw Diana murdered by Pariah alongside Batman, Superman and the rest of the Justice League and Justice League Incarnate's heroes. In reality though, Diana and the League's members are not dead, but trapped within dreamworlds designed for each hero.

Diana's dreamworld will be explored in Dark Crisis: Worlds Without a Justice League - Wonder Woman #1 by writer Tini Howard and artist Leila Del Duca. The issue ties into the main Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths event helmed by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Daniel Sampere, focusing on the DC Universe's heroes fighting Deathstroke, Pariah and the Great Darkness in the Justice League's absence. As of writing, three issues of the main Dark Crisis series have released and Diana has yet to return to the DC Universe.

Wonder Woman Has Returned From Death Before

Of course, Diana has been brought back from an apparent death before. The Dark Nights: Death Metal event ended with Diana sacrificing herself to stop the One Who Laughs (the Batman Who Laughs given the powers of Doctor Manhattan), leaving her missing from the DC Universe when DC Comics' Infinite Frontier era began in March 2021. After some time off battling Norse gods though, Diana returned to the main DC continuity.

Olympus: Rebirth #1 is written by Conrad and Cloonan with art by Caitlin Yarsky, colors by Jordie Bellaire, letters by Pat Brosseau and main cover art by Julian Totino Tedesco. Variant covers for the issue are contributed to by Tula Lotay, Dee Cunniffe and Lee Weeks. The issue is now on sale from DC Comics.
