Prolific TV producer Matt Miller has signed a new overall deal with Warner Bros. TV, which will see him board the upcoming Peacemaker series as an executive producer.

Deadline revealed that Miller will join James Gunn and Peter Safran as an executive producer on the DCEU-set series, which will explore John Cena's character from Gunn's The Suicide Squad. The news sees Miller renewing his long-running deal with WB TV, where he's produced a number of series. Miller has served as a producer in some capacity on the Lethal Weapon series, Chuck and The 100, the latter of which he helped get on TV. This also won't be Miller's first time working on a DC property, as he previously produced Human Target, based on the face-swapping bodyguard from the comics.

The series will explore the origins of the character that Cena will play in the upcoming The Suicide Squad, a man who believes in peace at any cost -- no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. While little is known about the plot, it will feature at least one Arrowverse character in the form of the Vigilante. Cena will also be joined by Steve Agee's John Economos, the warden of Belle Reeve in The Suicide Squad -- who Agee plays in the film along with voicing King Shark.

Peacemaker, which was announced earlier this year as a spinoff from The Suicide Squad, will be written and directed by Gunn. The HBO Max series will take place across eight episodes, fleshing out the villain. Production will occur before Gunn starts work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the recently announced Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
