There have been many powerful intergalactic teams of villains over the years at DC Comics that have given the heroes and world of the multiverse many troubles and hardships. Several of these groups, however, have been born on the harsh, war world of Apokolips, led by the mad and ruthless New God Darkseid.

One of those groups has to be the Female Furies, a group of villains who were trained by the evil Granny Goodness and are some of Darkseid’s most elite warriors. Let's take a look at the ten most powerful members of the Female Furies to ever serve the powerful villain Darkseid.

10 Artemiz

Artemis from the Furies

The first powerful member of the Female Furies has to be Artemiz, a skilled archer and warrior trained by Granny Goodness. Not only is she skilled as a hunter and bow expert, but she also has a pack of cybernetic wolves she uses while on the hunt.

Chosen to be part of the team after Lashina was betrayed and left on Earth by Bernadeth, Artemiz is often sent ahead of the team to scout rather than fight alongside the team. She didn’t get along with fellow member Stompa but otherwise was considered a crucial member of the team for years.

9 Bloody Mary

The next member of the Female Furies is Bloody Mary. Not to be confused with the Batwoman villain, Bloody Mary is an energy vampire from space who drains the life out of her victims. A member of the junior Female Furies, she is able to fly around using a disk and has energy powers that allow her to shoot energy out of her eyes to manipulate and control others.

She joined the other Furies when New Gods were being executed and tried to get Wonder Girl to join them. However after Wonder Girl rejected the offer, Bloody Mary met her end at the hands of Infinity Man.

8 Hammer Harleen

One of the few Earth-based heroes and villains to become a Female Fury outside of a major crossover event is Harley Quinn, who as a Female Fury became Hammer Harleen. While on vacation in the DC Rebirth era, Harley was taken to Apokolips by other members of the Female Furies to meet with Granny Goodness.

At first only in it to get space powers using her new hammer, she joined Granny’s team and captured a rogue Female Fury named Petite Tina. However, when she saw injustices on Apokolips, she rejected Granny and fought her, losing her new hammer in the process.

7 Supergirl

Some of the more powerful members of the Female Furies had only brief appearances as a member of the team, as many heroes have been taken and briefly brainwashed into serving Darkseid as a member of the team. One such hero was Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.

The cousin of Kal-El, aka Superman, Kara is a powerful hero herself, armed with Superman’s powers and a greater knowledge of Krypton and Kryptonian technology as a result of her being older when Krypton was destroyed. She was briefly brainwashed into serving Darkseid, but broke her control before she could lead the Furies into battle.

6 Wonder Woman

There have been many instances of heroes being turned by Darkseid’s forces to serve him unwillingly, but one of the most famous and most powerful heroes to do this has to be Wonder Woman, one of the greatest heroes of DC Comics history and one of the popular Trinity members as well.

During Final Crisis, many fell to Darkseid’s Anti-Life equation, including Wonder Woman. She led a new iteration of the Female Furies, which included corrupted heroes Batwoman, Catwoman and even Giganta, who all becomes Female Furies. She hunted down heroes and villains who escaped Darkseid, wearing a mask resembling an ape with a horned chin as well.

5 Stompa

One of the most powerful members of the original Female Furies has to be Stompa, one of the most promising and powerful prospects of Granny Goodness’s orphanage. Drawing her power from pure strength and high levels of invulnerability, Stompa proved her loyalty to Granny by originally fighting Big Barda, who had escaped Apokolips.

However, she would eventually help aid Barda and Mister Miracle alongside the other Furies for a time, before returning and accepting punishment by Darkseid. Years later she is a powerful member of the team, often fighting the likes of Superman, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, the Suicide Squad, and even Young Justice.

4 Mad Harriet

One of the more violent and twisted members of the team has to be Mad Harriet. One of the more disturbed children at Granny Goodness’s orphanage, she proved herself to Granny with her ruthless and violent nature. She was eventually chosen as one of the first and core members of the Female Furies, serving Darkseid.

She eventually went on several missions, nearly losing her life to Bronze Tiger when they fought the Suicide Squad, and her energy claws failed. However years later during Final Crisis, Mad Harriet’s spirit was one of the Female Fury spirits who possessed Earth’s heroes, taking over Batwoman who became a new Female Fury serving Darkseid.

3 Lashina

One of the most powerful and recognizable Female Furies in DC Comics has to be Lashina. The powerful Fury with electrical whips and superhuman abilities, Lashina has been a leader of the team for years, although this has been disputed by fellow member Bernadeth for years, leading to many conflicts between the two.

During Final Crisis, Lashina ran the Dark Side Club, which served as an arena where young teen superheroes brainwashed by Darkseid fought in illegal underground fights. Rose Wilson and Miss Martian led a rebellion against her, leading to Static electrocuting her and sending her to prison much later on.

2 Bernadeth

The second most powerful member of the Female Furies and often a co-leader of the team has to be Bernadeth. The sister of Darkseid’s servant Desaad, Bernadeth is one of the most feared members of the Furies on Apokolips thanks to her status and reputation. She often clashed with other leaders of the group as she hated being led by anyone.

She often clashed with Lashina for control of the team. She not only has battled Supergirl and Wonder Woman, but before the New 52 was presumed to be no longer living after a confrontation with the all-powerful Infinity Man.

1 Big Barda

The most iconic and powerful member of the Female Furies has to be Big Barda, a New God born on Apokolips over 250 years ago. Trained to lead the Furies from a young age, she soon finds herself rejecting that life after a mission leads to her meeting Scott Free, Darkseid’s adoptive son and member of New Genesis’s royal family.

Falling in love with the peaceful young man, she soon follows him to Earth after organizing and helping a resistance on Apokolips against Darkseid. She not only fights alongside her husband Scott, aka Mister Miracle, but has also worked alongside the Justice League for years.
