DC and Milestone Comics have announced the release dates for projects created in celebration of Black History Month and Milestone's 30th Anniversary.

Beginning in late January, the two are debuting special issues, variant covers and novels alongside new titles through February 2023. The first two projects to release on Jan. 31 are the DC Power: A Celebration anthology one-shot and Milestone Compendium Two. DC Power was previously revealed by the Jan. 2023 solicitations for DC Comics, and DC has now unveiled a look at Taj Tenfold's variant cover for the issue, featuring heroes like Naomi McDuffie, Aquaman (Jackson Hyde), the Signal (Duke Thomas) and Kid Flash (Wallace West), among others. The second Milestone compendium sports a cover by Milestone co-founder Denys Cowan and collects over 1,300 pages of story, including a reprint of the 1994 Worlds Collide event that combined characters from the DC Universe and Milestone's "Dakotaverse" for the first time ever.

A week later on Feb. 7, the new Static: Shadows of Dakota miniseries and The DC Universe by Dwayne McDuffie both launch. Unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Shadows of Dakota is a sequel to Static: Season One and written by both Vita Ayala and Nikolas Draper-Ivey, with the latter also drawing the title. Meanwhile, The DC Universe by Dwayne McDuffie is a 280-page hardcover collection that includes stories by the Milestone Media founding member from across titles like Action Comics, Impulse, Batman: Gotham Knights and Firestorm: The Nuclear Man.

The five-issue event Icon vs. Hardware is the focus of Feb. 14. Originally announced at New York Comic Con 2022, the title is co-written by Reginald Hudlin and Leon Chills, and illustrated by Cowan. A description of the series details that the two Milestone heroes will be at odds with one another after Hardware discovers a time machine while searching for Icon's crashed spaceship.

Batman Beyond and Static Shock Crossover Once Again for Milestone's 30th Anniversary

The last project listed by Milestone for February is the anthology one-shot Milestone 30th Anniversary Special, announced at NYCC and set to go on sale Feb. 21, 2023. Celebrating the company's creation in 1993, the special issue features stories focusing on Milestone's various heroes, such as Static, Rocket, Icon and Hardware, including one where Milestone's modern heroes come face-to-face with their '90s versions, caused by the character Rift. Another story, "Static Beyond," will be a crossover between an adult Static and Batman Beyond. The anniversary special features the work of Chuck Brown, Stephanie Williams, Nikolas Draper-Ivey and others.

For Black History Month, DC will also be releasing a number of variant covers in 2023 spotlighting the company's Black superheroes. Issues that will have these variant covers available include The Flash #792, I Am Batman #18, Black Adam #8, Lazarus Planet Omega #1, Wonder Woman #796 and Action Comics #1052, illustrated to focus on heroes like Cyborg, Nubia and John Henry Irons.

Readers can look out for these variant covers and Milestone's upcoming releases across Feb. 2023.
