The following contains spoilers for DC League of Super-Pets, which releases in theaters July 29 from Warner Bros. Pictures.

With DC Universe's animated take on the Legion of Super-Pets only three months away from a summer theatrical release, a new children's book adaptation of DC League of Super-Pets may have spoiled the film's premise.

Instagram user @silenzioalvaro shared images from the 24-page children's book based on the animated film. Super-Pets will feature such iconic characters as Krypto The Superdog, Ace the Bat-Hound, PB and more.

Based on the released images, Super-Pets will see Krypto -- Superman's loyal companion -- in need of animal friends. He meets the future Super-Pet characters in an animal shelter, where they come in contact with a piece of Orange Kryptonite. With each animal developing their own powers, a guinea pig named Lulu develops a plan to rule the world with her mind control abilities.

Lulu manages to escape the shelter and get her hands on the Green Kryptonite to take away Superman's and Krypto's powers. With the help of Lex Luthor, Lulu and her army of superpowered guinea pigs capture each member of the Justice League. It's up to Krypto and his new friends to save the Justice League and stop Lulu from achieving world domination.

DC League of Super-Pets was originally slated for a May 20 release. It was moved to July 29 after another highly anticipated DC movie, Black Adam, was moved to Oct. 21. Both films star Dwayne Johnson, who voices Krypto. It's possible the early release for the book was meant to tie in with the original release date for Super-Pets.

The film was written and directed by Jared Stern of The Lego Batman Movie and co-written by John Whittington. The all-star voice cast includes Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound (Batman's dog), Vanessa Bayer as PB (Wonder Woman's pig), Natasha Lyonne as Merton (the Flash's turtle) and Diego Luna as Chip (Green Lantern's squirrel). Other iconic DC characters will be voiced by John Krasinski (Superman), Keanu Reeves (Batman) and Marc Maron (Lex Luthor).

"Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime side by side in Metropolis," a synopsis for DC League of Super-Pets reads. "However, when the Man of Steel and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a ragtag group of animals to master their own newfound powers for a rescue mission."

DC League of Super-Pets opens in theaters on Friday, July 29.
