The DC Universe has such a vast array of characters that are so iconic they can exist outside of the setting they've been designed for. Indeed, many of these heroes and villains might even be suitable to be sent off to the Marvel Universe!

While some characters fit the DC brand through and through, others actually have a lot of elements that might make them a great match for the Marvel Universe. Here's 10 characters, 5 heroes and 5 villains, we think would be right at home over at Marvel.

10 Mera

One of the most prominent Atlanteans in the DC Universe is the long time love interest and powerful leader of Atlantis, Mera. Atlantis is one of the few locations that both Marvel and DC actually share in common.

While Aquaman himself feels much more like a DC character, there is actually a gap for Mera to be inserted into in the Marvel Universe. She'd be extremely interesting as a forgotten ruler of the city and as a source of conflict for Namor; those two against one another would provide some great moments.

9 Shazam

Shazam has actually been teased in the Marvel Universe. Before, because the character is technically a version of Captain Marvel, he's been shown alongside a number of other versions of people who hold that title. He'd, therefore, fit into Marvel really well.

It makes sense for Shazam to be brought into Marvel through a Captain Marvel story, or perhaps even a Ms. Marvel one! The character has such a rich comics history that we'd love to see some of that at play in a different universe, albeit with other villains.

8 Zatanna

Zatanna puts her powers on display

Zatanna is one of the few magical characters on this list, but we know she'd be an excellent contender for the role of sorcerer supreme. We can absolutely imagine her as a teacher at the Strange Academy or perhaps somewhere else in Marvel's magical world.

The mystical side of this universe is always expanding, and we think Zatanna would be really interesting against a number of mythical threats that have surfaced over the years. Even her aesthetic fits into the playful magician vibe Marvel often aims for.

7 Wonder Woman

Marvel has their own Zeus and Ares, and even Hercules is a pivotal character for the Avengers. Wonder Woman would, therefore, be right at home amongst the Olympians, and we could easily see Themyscira also being written into the Marvel Universe.

There's plenty of opportunities for the character to be inserted into a number of myth-based stories, and we can't help but think of the great team-ups this could lead to, such as Diana and Hercules, Thor, and the Mighty Thor!

6 The Flash

The Flash punching villain.

Barry Allen may have actually turned up in Marvel Comics before. During one period of time where he was written out of DC, a speedster appeared in Marvel Comics who had forgotten his name. He ended up calling himself the Buried Alien, a clear reference to Barry Allen.

The Flash therefore already has some history with Marvel, and he certainly didn't seem out of place. The Flash is also usually at the forefront of multiverse hopping, so it also wouldn't be too out of the blue for the scarlet speedster to run through New York at some point.

5 Swamp Thing

Man-Thing is the Marvel version of Swamp Thing, but we have to say that we could also imagine the Swamp Thing lurking amongst the marshes of the Marvel Universe. In fact, this is a monster that we'd really love to see make the move to the house of ideas.

There's plenty of ways that this natural beast could be written into Marvel, asides from a Man-Thing story, but it's clear that one of the best ways is to mix him in with the X-Men; the group is used to dealing with mutations after all.

4 Brainiac

Brainiac has been known to become obsessed with collecting things. It's why a mission to try to discover more about the Marvel Universe makes him a perfect villain to crossover as he has a clear motive to do so.

Brainiac would be fascinated by Groot, Hulk, and just about every other bizarre oddity at Marvel. He'd also want to know more about how the multiverse functions, which is why he'd make this journey to begin with.

3 Mr. Mxyzptlk

Mxy is another villain that would be able to transition to Marvel smoothly. The fifth-dimensional imp can jump all across time and space, so he must have popped up in Marvel at some point in time.

His cartoon characteristics are similar to other characters like Howard the Duck, and he would serve as a really compelling enemy for the Avengers to face as reality continues to try to reinvent itself.

2 Cheetah

The Marvel Universe already has Tigra, so it wouldn't be too hard to imagine that the Cheetah could also exist in this universe. Not only is there a really strange history of cats in Marvel, but the mythical nature of a lot of its characters makes Cheetah's arrival perfect.

We could see any number of strange curses bringing Minerva into the fold here and much like the inclusion of Wonder Woman; we can also see Cheetah starring alongside many other mythical characters.

1 Deathstroke

We know that Deadpool is kind of a rip-off of Deadpool, but that's why it makes it so perfect that the two mercenaries should crossover at some point in the future. It's the sort of fourth-wall-breaking storytelling that we're used to from this character!

Everything from the costume to his fighting style meshes perfectly with other characters like Deadpool or even Taskmaster. It's also not uncommon for the villains of Marvel to hire a mercenary to handle their business.
