As revealed earlier this year, Superman characters Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen will star in a new pair of solo comic book series this summer. DC has now revealed new information about the titles, including when they'll debut.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Lois Lane is getting a brand-new eponymous series from writer Greg Rucka (Action Comics, Wonder Woman) and artist Mike Perkins (Green Lanterns, Captain America). Meanwhile, Jimmy will appear in a new iteration of Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen, featuring the creative team of writer Matt Fraction (Hawkeye, Sex Criminals) and artist Steve Lieber (Civil War: Front Line). Both 12-issue series are set to debut in July.

According to Los Angeles Times  Rucka and Perkins' Lois Lane promises to hone in on the titular character's long legacy as The Daily's Planet's ace reporter and emphasize the realism of her profession, as she's tasked with investigating threats and conspiracies.

"Lois Lane is the best investigative reporter in the DC [Universe]," Rucka said. "This is our truth, and this is what the book is about."

Lois Lane will no doubt see its protagonist deal with the harsh realities of investigative journalism. However, Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen will seemingly take a much more lighthearted approach in its portrayal of the Daily Planet's star photographer, with the book's creative team describing it as "ridiculous and sublime."

However, Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen will also poke fun at the state of contemporary journalism, with Jimmy being forced to pivot from photography to videography in order to keep The Daily Planet profitable.

"Jimmy's videos are basically the only thing keeping the lights on at the Planet anymore," Fraction explained. "They have to let him keep doing his thing because it's the only thing that pays the bills, but it's [also] really expensive."
