Pluto TV gave fans a positive response regarding The CW's canceled Arrowverse series, DC's Legends of Tomorrow. "Thanks for reaching out with your suggestion," Pluto TV tweeted in response to a fan asking the streaming service, among several others, to bring Legends of Tomorrow back for an eighth season. "We love DC's Legends of Tomorrow too! Our viewers are important to us, and we care about what you have to say. Rest assured that your comments have been forwarded to the appropriate team." Premiering in 2016, Legends of Tomorrow ran for seven seasons on The CW. The series was one of several long-running DC Arrowverse programs canceled by the network in 2022, which included Batwoman after three seasons and The Flash after nine. The cancellation of Legends, however, launched an online fan campaign under the hashtag #SaveLegendsofTomorrow, which has called for The CW and Warner Bros. Discovery to renew the series for another season. However, fans have expanded their plea to other streaming services. In November 2022, a banner calling to "save" the show was seen flying over the Netflix offices in California.

Legends of Tomorrow Ends on a Cliffhanger

It was announced in April 2022 that Legends would not return for an eighth season, despite Season 7's cliffhanger ending. "The cliffhanger isn't the CW's fault," Legends co-showrunner Keto Shimizu said at the time. "It's mine. I played chicken with the pickup and lost. Hopefully, the story can continue in another form." In March, The CW revealed that it had renewed only seven of its 19 scripted original series. The Flash was renewed for what will be its ninth and final season, while Superman & Lois was renewed for a third season.

Shortly before the official cancellation, the LoTWritersRoom Twitter asked fans to rally behind a #RenewLegendsofTomorrow campaign. "While we don't think we're in trouble, we want to make sure the whole world (cough cough a certain network) knows what a special, weird little goblin of a TV show this is," they wrote.

James Gunn, the new co-head of DC Studios, acknowledged fans' #SaveLegendsofTomorrow campaign in November. "Opened up Twitter at the end of a long, creative weekend to see the many tweets to #SaveLegendsofTomorrow & #ReleaseTheAyerCut & fan support for other DC projects over the years. The majority of these requests were enthusiastic & respectful," Gunn wrote.

"As the new (& first ever) CEOs of DC Studios, Peter [Safran] & I think it’s important we acknowledge you, the fans, & let you know we hear your different desires for the pathways forward for DC," he continued. Gunn stated that he and Safran were "listening & open to everything as we embark on this journey" though their initial focus will be on "the story going forward, hammering out the new DCU, & telling the Biggest Story Ever Told across multiple films, television shows, & animated projects."

In a previous interview, Gunn and Safran explained their 10-year plan for the new DCU, echoing the sentiment that they will focus on telling "one great overarching story" across film, television and animation.
