The Entire Legends of Tomorrow Team's Flash Return is NOT Confirmed

The Nerds of Color added a correction to its interview piece, stating, "There is no confirmation of all the Legends returning in The Flash." The comment from Eric Wallace transcribed in the article no longer contains the line about "all the Legends" making appearances.

The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace has confirmed that the titular team of DC's Legends of Tomorrow will appear in an episode of The CW show's upcoming ninth and final season.

During a recent interview with The Nerds of Color, Wallace explained that he was able to find room for the cast of the canceled Arrowverse show despite the shorter episode count for The Flash Season 9 meaning he had to keep things mostly focused around the titular speedster. "Yes, yes. Yeah. And you know, it’s one of those things," said Wallace, explaining how the shorter season led to an unrealized Legends of Tomorrow-centric episode. "We’re still writing a series finale so you never know what could happen at the very end. Hope does spring eternal, but I just want to put that over. All the Legends at least are all going to appear in an episode."

Originally, Wallace had hoped to "have at least one [episode] -- if not a two-parter -- that wrapped up Legends of Tomorrow. And you know, there [would] be a little crossover. We get them back, we get them out of time jail, all these good things, Booster Gold, etc, etc." However, when Wallace found out the episode count for The Flash's final season was 13 instead of 20, he realized that spending one or two whole episodes tying up Legends of Tomorrow "was no longer possible." Despite the shorter season meaning less time with the Legends, Arrowverse fans can still take solace in knowing that they will at least see the beloved time-traveling team one more time before the Arrowverse concludes later this year.

The Flash Wraps Up the Arrowverse

After Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman were canceled in April 2022, The Flash became the last running Arrowverse show on The CW, with its upcoming series finale also serving as the final episode of the DC shared universe. With the end in sight, The Flash has been announcing a slew of guest stars, including Arrowverse alums Batwoman's Javicia Leslie, Supergirl's Nicole Maines and Arrow's Stephen Amell and David Ramsey. While it is unknown when Leslie and Maines will appear as their respective superheroes, Amell and Ramsey are set to appear in the season's ninth episode, alongside returning The Flash cast members Keiynan Lonsdale and Sendhil Ramamurthy.

Other The Flash alums set to appear during the Scarlet Speedster's final run are Rick Cosnett as CCPD Detective Eddie Thawne, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West-Allen/XS and Matt Letscher as the original Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash. Wallace previously said that the writers had written special episodes for all three returning stars, teasing fans that the story they created for Letscher is "one we've been excited to tell for a while, but couldn't until now." He added, "The result is a wild and bittersweet episode we hope fans — both old and new — will love."

The Flash's ninth and final season premieres on The CW on Feb. 8.
