Get Ready for The Rock's Debut as Black Adam

A sequel to DC League of Super-Pets has not been announced as of writing, but Johnson's time in the DC Universe is not over yet. The actor will be portraying Black Adam for the character's first live-action solo movie set in the DC Extended Universe. Originally, Black Adam was supposed to release on July 29 with Super-Pets hitting theaters on May 20, but both films were delayed so that Super-Pets took Black Adam's July release date while the live-action movie was pushed back to Oct. 2022.

Teth-Adam aka Black Adam is an antihero that possesses the same powers as the hero Shazam, which he uses to rule over his country, Kahndaq. Alongside Johnson, the upcoming Black Adam film will also introduce the Justice Society of America to the DCEU, its members including Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell). For fans looking to know more about the JSA prior to the movie's debut, DC Comics is releasing a series of prequel one-shots that tie into Black Adam and spotlight the Society's heroes.

DC League of Super-Pets is now playing in theaters, with Black Adam releasing Oct. 21, 2022.
