During the early 90s, the Justice League was a splintered group that appeared across a few different titles like Justice League Europe and Justice League Americathough for a brief 37-issue run a strike team was assembled that became known as Justice League Task Force.

While the team's membership changed frequently as new teams were assembled for new missions, the JLTF soon found a stable team roster and even received matching costumes. There were a number of powerful Leaguers who joined the Task Force over the years, though the team also featured a few surprisingly weak members that we'll take a closer look at today.

10 STRONGEST: TRIUMPH

JUSTICE LEAGUE TASK FORCE - Triumph

William McIntyre/Triumph was a short-lived character who first appeared during the Zero Hour event, where it was revealed Triumph had been a founding member of the original League before he sacrificed himself and was lost in Limbo with no memory of the hero left behind.

Triumph was powered by the electromagnetic spectrum in various ways that allowed him to control energy, fly, and gave him super-strength. Triumph's powers weren't fully explored, but he held his own against high-powered heroes like Superman.

9 WEAKEST: GYPSY

Gypsy first joined with the League under Aquaman during the Detroit Bunker-era, though she would work with the JLTF for a few disastrous missions before Martian Manhunter asked her to join the JLTF in a more permanent position.

Gypsy's illusion-casting powers allowed her to camouflage herself and even project illusions to other people. Despite being a gifted hand-to-hand fighter with JLTF weapons and battle armor, Gypsy was frequently injured, mind-controlled and even killed during her time with the League.

8 STRONGEST: WONDER WOMAN

wonder woman

Diana Prince/Wonder Woman was the leader of the Justice League of America team when she worked alongside Martian Manhunter and his Justice League Task Force for a very unique mission that saw a female Martian Manhunter work with an all-female squad to investigate a subterranean empire ruled by women.

Wonder Woman's abilities include super-strength, speed, flight and durability that make her one of the strongest heroes in the DC Universe, though she didn't often work with the Task Force.

7 WEAKEST: DOLPHIN

The woman known as Dolphin joined the JLTF alongside Wonder Woman for the female-only mission to the subterranean world. Dolphin first appeared in the pages of Showcase before joining Aquaman and has recently reappeared in the DC Rebirth era with a new origin and abilities.

Originally, Dolphin was a human who had been experimented on by aliens to create a new subaquatic lifeform that gave her the ability to breathe and survive underwater, though her Rebirth abilities are quite a bit more powerful.

6 STRONGEST: THE RAY

Ray Terrill was the son of the Golden Age Ray and he inherited his father's light-based powers, which allow him to absorb energy and rechannel it in various forms, such as energy blasts and hard light constructs.

He is also able to transform into an energy form and control light to make himself and others invisible, though his powers have yet to be fully tested to their limits. The Ray joined the JLTF at the urging of Martian Manhunter to help him learn how to control his abilities and give the young hero direction.

5 WEAKEST: THUNDERBOLT

Peter Cannon/Thunderbolt was originally a character published by Charlton Comics who would go on to influence the creation of Watchmen's Ozymandias, though Peter Cannon would have a short-lived superhero career in the DC universe that brought him into the membership of the Justice League Task Force for a confrontation with the Aryan Brigade.

After years of studying in a Tibetan monastery, Cannon was able to unlock a spiritual power ("mind over matter") that enhanced his physical abilities to peak human condition but only with extreme concentration.

4 STRONGEST: DESPERO

Despero is an alien conqueror and frequent enemy of the League with powerful abilities that include super strength and durability, as well as telekinesis, hypnotic telepathy, and a devastating energy-blast.

Despero's body was possessed for a brief time by Justice League International's robotic helper L-Ron, who used Despero's body and abilities to work alongside the JLTF until the team disbanded and Despero and L-Ron regained control of their respective bodies.

3 WEAKEST: MYSTEK

The mysterious Mystek first appeared in the pages of The Ray as Seong Barclay, daughter of a missing inventor who created a device that was able to use quark energy to generate "elastic proactive matter"/energy constructs through electronic devices.

Mystek wore a high-tech suit of armor that disguised her gender and she joined the JLTF after run-ins with Ray and Martian Manhunter. The character was randomly killed off while in space after plans for a solo series were scrapped.

2 STRONGEST: MARTIAN MANHUNTER

J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter was a long-time League member before he was asked by government agent Hannibal Martin to assemble a strike team of League members to take on a political mission to stop a superweapon.

Martian Manhunter would later form and lead the official JLTF after they solidified the roster. Martian Manhunter is an alien shape-changer with Superman-level strength, however, he is extremely weakened by fire. J'onzz also possesses Martian Vision, can fly and is one of the most powerful telepaths on Earth.

1 WEAKEST: GEIST THE TWILIGHT MAN

Dwayne Geyer gained his abilities during the 90s Bloodlines event after an alien attack turned him (and others) into a metahuman. As Geist, he was able to dim himself and others or turn completely invisible, depending on the levels of light present.

While Geist was never officially welcomed onto the team after he and Joe Public (another "New Blood" hero) sought out Martian Manhunter for guidance, they both worked with the JLTF on a mission before disappearing into obscurity and/or Crisis-related death.
