DC's superheroes finally decide to embrace capitalism in the new six-issue limited series One-Star Squadron, debuting in December.

Written by Mark Russell and illustrated by Steve Lieber, One-Star Squadron features a motley selection of characters, including familiar faces like Red Tornado and Power Girl from Justice League International and the Justice Society, alongside more obscure heroes like Gangbuster and Minute Man. Instead of selflessly fighting for the cause of justice, however, this crew is motivated by cold, hard cash, similar to Marvel's Heroes for Hire.

"This ragtag group of heroes led by Red Tornado is here to provide service with a smile," DC's description of the series reads. "All you have to do is send a request via their on-demand hero app and they’ll answer any call. Whether it’s a children’s birthday party or an alien invasion, no job is too small or too big in this story about the superheroes without a billion dollar fortune or Fortress of Solitude to fall back on."

Designed to "hit close to home for everyone who’s ever worked an embarrassing, mind-numbing or menial gig," the series will dive into the relationships between these characters and the mysterious figure signing their checks.

One-Star Squadron #1 goes on sale Dec. 12 from DC.
