The Superman from Injustice is joining main DC continuity, but it appears he has not become a full-fledged dictator yet, unlike the titular video games and comic tie-ins.

DC has released its June 2023 solicitations, including details and cover artwork for Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #4 by writer Tom Taylor and artist Clayton Henry. It was announced in Feb. 2023 that the six-issue miniseries would cross over with the world of Injustice, but according to the fourth issue's solicitation, this version of Injustice Superman/Clark Kent has not taken over the world yet. With regard to young Superman Jon Kent, the solicitation reads, "What will he do when he discovers that this world's version of his father, Clark Kent, is on the verge of becoming a dictator?"

The Injustice Universe and Superman’s Super Son, Explained

The Injustice Universe was launched in 2013, stretching across two video games and several comic series, the first of which was titled Injustice: Gods Among Us after the original video game. In this DC Universe, Superman took over Earth as a ruthless dictator following the death of his wife, Lois Lane, and their unborn son. The Man of Steel was manipulated into killing Lois by the Joker, causing the Clown Prince of Crime to be Superman's first victim once the hero decided murder was an acceptable method to save lives and ensure peace. Taylor is one of the main architects of Injustice, writing the original Gods Among Us comic series and other titles that followed, such as the Injustice 2 comics tying into the sequel video game released in 2017.

As for Jon Kent, created by writer-artist Dan Jurgens in 2015's Convergence: Superman #2, he is the son of the main DC Universe's Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Taylor has penned Jon's evolution from Superboy to Superman within the now finished Superman: Son of Kal-El series, which saw Jon come out as bisexual and introduced his boyfriend, Jay Nakamura. Set up by Action Comics #1050 and Lazarus Planet: Assault on Krypton #1, Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent now sees Jon recruited by Superman Val-Zod to stop Ultraman from killing Clark Kents across the Multiverse, a murder spree that will lead to Earth-49, home to Injustice.

Adventures of Superman May Be Set Before the First Injustice

Along with Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #4, other solicitations indicate that Jon will arrive in the Injustice Universe at a time before the first video game, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Details for the series' third issue explain that "a Kal-El rules this world in seeming peace" while Batman is "public enemy number one." This describes how the Injustice Universe stood prior to Gods Among Us, in which Batman and Lex Luthor pulled in a Justice League from another Earth to depose Superman.

Along with Taylor and Henry, Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #4 will sport variant cover artwork contributed to by Henry, Zu Orzu, Al Barrionuevo, Tyler Kirkham and Stephen Byrne. The issue is set to go on sale June 6 from DC Comics.
